UPDATE 2/13/2013:1.) Timing chain/tensioners/guide boots, water pump, spark plugs, and all driveline fluids and coolant replaced. Runs like new!
2.) BRUSH GUARD REMOVED. Found a taker in So-Cal, so it's going away possibly as early as tomorrow.
3.) Aux tranny cooler installed per the "How To" on this forum. Works great, no leaks!
4.) Baja Jerry Can roof rack installed, so I can carry my Jerry Cans on the trail now
5.) Fixed some leaks in the on board air system. It's still bleeding down over time, but I can live with it at this point- it holds pressure for several hours, which is good enough for a day of wheeling and re-airing my tires. The quick-disconnect for the air tank may be the culprit, in which case I will just live with the leaks.
UPDATE 2/18/2013So, today I moved my CB antenna. The previous owner had the antenna mount hose clamped to the roof rack crossbar. With a 4' firestik antenna, it put the antenna ridiculously high and I was concerned about the likelihood of it catching on branches and low wires, so I decided to move the mount to the driver's side tail light guard.
Initially, I tried hose clamps, but they couldn't hold the mount securely:
So I took the guard off and drilled holes, and bolted the mount onto the light guard:
I reinstalled the light guard, moved the coax down the outside of the weatherstripping on the hatch, and presto!
BTW, the antenna is grounded to the body via a short wire to a grounding screw I installed. The tail light guard uses the factory housing screws, which are into plastic brackets, so it was no good self-grounding via the mount.
And, since I was in a hole drilling mood today, I added a fire extinguisher in the cargo area:
Next on the list is my HAM radio install!
Expect further updates along with more recent pictures of the rig post-brushguard removal with the new equipment installed.
