CANVAZ V 10/10 and 10/11 Planning and Final Coordination
« on: September 26, 2015, 10:50:07 AM »
Hello All,
With CANVAZ fast approaching, I have reached out to Jason (Deadpilot) and have been given the blessing to help with the final planning of this event. Unfortunately, Jason's monster will not be ready and has chosen to pass on attending. Needless to say, we were all looking forward to hanging with this monster rig and are bumbed you won't be making it. We appreciate everything you've done thus far and thank you for all the time and effort you've put in.
This thread will be merged with the original and the planning will coninue.
.......with out further adieu.........

CANVAZ is a joint get together between California (CA), Nevada (NV) and Arizona (AZ). There is a rotation and every year a different state takes the reigns and hosts the event for others to attend. This year is CA's turn to host the event. Although our rigs exist all across our state, the south is where most of the rigs are and SCCX is hosting.
The location is the mountain town of Big Bear CA. The date is Saturday Oct 10th & Sunday the 11th with an option for Monday the 12th (Columbus Day).
As most of you know, BigBear is a wheelers paradise with trails for all skill and rig levels. For the SAS'ed group on 37's, Johnson Valley (KOH) is about an hour away.
The Lake sits at just under 7000ft and most of the camping is in the hills above the lake, so be ready for a cold October. There are also a verity of cabins tucked into the forest and a few motels and rustic lodges. I spend a lot of time there so feel free to ask any questions or just bring a warm sleeping bag and a sense of adventue.

A camping thread has been started by my co-Dawg Christiaan and can be found here
http://sccxterra.com/smf/index.php?topic=3294.0

Friday night potluck meet and great thread started here
http://sccxterra.com/smf/index.php?topic=3326.0

There will be a veriety of trails for all rig and skill levels.

Green trails - Minor to no modifications required

Blue trails - Minor mods recommended.
                      lift, tires, sliders.

Black trails - Must be bit by the modbug. add bumpers skid plates and one locker.
The ultimate decision on trail requirements will be up to the descretion of that trail leader. No if, ands or buts.

ALL RIGS MUST HAVE AT LEAST ONE FRONT AND ONE REAR RECOVERY POINT.
Do not become the bowel obstruction on the trail. Your carelessness or disregard for this will impact others ability to enjoy themselves.
A full size spare and the ability to change a tire on uneven ground is a must.

1st trail run will be on Saturday the 10th and if there is enough interest, groups can run into Monday. There may be a evening run. For those who want to use all those lights we buy, this is a great opportunity to make it happen.

Post up your suggestions for the trails, questions and comments you may have.

I would like to petition to make the Vons the meet spot for all runs.
Not only will everyone have access to last min supplies but part of the purpose of this event is the comradary and crap talking that goes on. Having everyone together in one spot allows everyone to meet each other, gives people the opportunity to chicken out and change trails.

I have combed over the previous thread with pen and paper and have written everything down. Please review the lists above and comment if I jacked anything up.

Thanks for taking the lead on the final planning details Danny, and thanks to Jason for putting the initial planning together to get everyone where we are today!

Can you please change me to Rattlesnake Canyon for Saturday, and add my cousin Jerry with his F-150 to the same run? The Pontiac Sluice group will need to find a new tail gunner, but it looks like they have quite a few people signed up for that run so I'm hoping that's not a huge issue. My cousin needs to run a green trail and we want to stay together.

Randy had suggested meeting up at 10:00 am for this run, and said he was ok with Vons, but I'll let him give the final word. If everyone else is meeting at 9:00, I'm sure we can change this run up to 9:00 am too. He was just thinking that gave everyone enough time to have a nice breakfast in camp, and it makes even more sense now that we'll need a little time to get around the lake and into town from the campsite.
