Some broad hit it today while it was parked in front of the house. She was messing with her damn dog in the back and creamed going way to fast. I could of choked her but kept my cool and did the right thing..Had it towed to Mossy collision center in Escondido and tomorrow the insurance will decide if it's a total loss.(http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p622/totkid760/DSC_0488_2.jpg)(http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p622/totkid760/DSC_0495_2.jpg)(http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p622/totkid760/DSC_0501_2.jpg)(http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p622/totkid760/DSC_0504_2.jpg)(http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p622/totkid760/DSC_0514_2.jpg)(http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p622/totkid760/DSC_0516_2.jpg)(http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p622/totkid760/DSC_0516_2.jpg)(http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p622/totkid760/DSC_0529_2.jpg)(http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p622/totkid760/DSC_0558_2.jpg)(http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p622/totkid760/DSC_0560_2.jpg)(http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p622/totkid760/DSC_0562_2.jpg)(http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p622/totkid760/DSC_0596_2.jpg)

Damn man. Rash of those going around. Glad ur ok. :)
-
Wow, two hits and "good thing you're oks" in one evening. Tough night for you guys.
-
I had just got home from work and was inside taking my boots off and heard a BOOM..Ran outside and couldn't believe it.. She had Farmers Ins. so hopefully things
go smooth
-
WOW. They say these things come in threes. So I was first almost 2 months ago and now 2nd and 3rd today. So NO MORE PEOPLE! I always said I was a trend setter. My truck stated out as $5K to fix and has now crept over $10K for a similar accident but my driver was going to opposite direction of my parked X.
At least Farmers is a big company....hopefully they will take care of you. My ins. co is AAA and they have taken care of me except for a rental car since I don't have that coverage.....yet.
-
Wow. Glad to hear you're okay. From one of those pictures it looks like she drove quite a ways after the impact. Like maybe 3 houses before deciding it might be a good idea to stop - or was there that much speed?
-
So sorry about the X Chad!!! Stoked you're OK
-
Oh man Chad...glad no one was hurt.
-
Oh man that sucks!
-
Sorry to hear!
-
That sucks. :-[
From the pictures, it looks like you may have lucked out. Minimal body damage. Remount the springs and new axel, you may be back in business. Maybe you can negotiate a Dana 44 back there.
-
OUCH, that sucks to see/hear man. Hopefully it all gets worked out.
-
Doesn't look totaled ... but dang.
Good luck.
-
Holy cow... Lets not do any more of these. Thankfully with all of these accidents no one has been hurt.
-
They are saying that the frame, rear axle, and drive shaft might be bent but they wont know till they get it apart.. Keeping my fingers crossed.
-
UPDATE!!!! Just talked to my insurance co. and they are estimating 4,000$ repair.. Witch means it's not a total loss and ORANGE X will be coming to a trail near you soon. ;D They are going to replace rear axle with a wrecking yard one (that they already have found) that has less mileage then the one I have, Rear Bilsteins, Rear after market leaf springs and u bolts, they are going to send wheels out to get checked and buffed out if they have to replace they will, quarter panel work, and side steps..Plus they are paying for rental car and waving my deductible.. The body shop says 3 weeks.. I am stoked..... ::)
-
Sweet! You will be soooooo happy when you finally get it back all fixed and pretty again!!! The rental car thing is great news too......I didn't get one and it drove me crazy.
-
SWEET!!!!!
-
Awesome news :D
-
This is great news Chad, I know how much your X means to you!
I got your voicemail, maybe we can meet up early next week or possibly this Sunday, and I can grab the CB from you for the 15th. I will give you a call.
-
Sounds good John!
-
Good news. I love the orange X, maybe the best color ever.
-
UPDATE: So I have been told twice now that they can fix it, and twice now that they can't. They called today and said its a total loss with the estimate at 10,184$ and the value at 11,600$. NOT ACCEPTABLE I told them and asked to speak to supervisor.. He then proceeds to give me 3 options. Total loss=check to me for 11,600$, Cash out on estimate=they give me a check for the price if estimate and i pay body shop myself and receive a salvage title. I say UNACCEPTABLE to this to because if they find more damage down the road I am out of pocket.3rd option was to call Farmers (people who hit me insurance) and have them look at it and maybe they will be able to not call a total loss and fix it.. Then I mention to the supervisor "What if I get a second opinion from another body shop, maybe the estimate will be less" and he says " well, if you take it to one of our body shops I GUARANTEE we can save it, and it won't be a total loss" Why the hell didn't they tell me this 2 weeks ago? I don't give a shit who fixes it, i just want it done..........So it got towed to a new shop today and tomorrow they will re inspect it and hopefully start the damn work..... Ok I feel better now. Sorry.. Off to Baja I go tomorrow to kill some fish and a lot of beers...
-
Sorry to hear you going through all this trouble bro!
If I were in your shoes, I would get them make it total loss, and deal with them to give you around 13k. With that money, great opportunity to upgrade to a used second gen X or maybe new pro4x if you were to be willing to make payments for a while. All in all considering if you don't have much sentimental values for it.... ;)
Don't get too stressed. things happen often because it was meant to be!!!! (an upgrade to 2nd gen) ;)
-
Bummer bro!
sorry to hear that
-
After a long hard fight, I just found out that I should be getting my X back around the 10th of August. ;D
-
sweeet! you going through withdrawls?
-
Very much so. Lol
-
That means that you're gonna have to test drive her once you get her back.
-
;D
-
I once had an insurance agent friend tell me that when involved in an accident to do a few things if possible. 1st was note the exact time of the accident. 2nd was note if the other driver is on the phone or is holding their phone. 3rd ask the accident investigating officer to check the other drivers phone record for the time the accident happened. If the 3rd suggestion proves true then you have a great chance of pinning 100% of the blame on that person minimizing the cost to you. It seems I see more people these days looking down at their lap because they are texting while driving thinking that if they hold their phone down low the cops won't see it and ticket them.
-
I've seen it more and more lately, but I love it when a cruiser or a motor pulls up behind/next to a unsuspecting driver, and they're on the phone. It wasn't too long ago that the fines were $25 for driving while on a cell. Now the fines are well over $100, and rising. If its not considered a moving violation already, it should be. A kick in the butt wouldn't be out of line either.
-
Funny you say that because the officer told me he did check her phone and it checked out ok.. I didn't even ask him to do it. I thought it was policy now or something..
On a good note, I took my sliders down today and my shrock front bumper to the body shop.. Because I don't need the factory side steps they gave me a 400$ credit with the body shop so I'm having them replace torn CV boots, lower ball joints, primer, paint and install my sliders and shrock bumper. ;D What a deal...
-
Stoked you stuck to your guns bro!! Can't wait to see the NEW rig.
-
wow, that was good deal.
-
Was supposed to get her back today but deep down inside I knew It wouldn't be ready so I didn't get my hopes up. Good thing because according to the shop they ordered 3 different rear axles before they finally got the right one witch was delivered on Wednesday so now they need a few more days to get all back together. They guy says the first 2 had a different gear ratio then mine. He says mine has a unique gear ratio and they had to get it right.. It's puzzling to me because I thought that a 2003 Xterra 4x4 was the same as a 2003 Xterra 4x4.. Just order same year and model and it will work. Guess not. Anyone know why? Anyways, I should get it back next week some time... Hopefully......
-
STOKED!!!
-
I think the SC has a different gear ratio. I'm not for sure but the voices are be pretty convincing.
-
mine has no markings. Dont know what it is, but that makes sense
-

yours isn't supercharged so its not an sc. Kinda pist your rig is gonna look better than mine haha!
-
Want to sell me your skids Dana? lol The will look better on mine. Hahahaha
-
no sorry the skids are working great for me, although i have only been able to test them on pavement so far.
-
Closer Chad...

Chad,
The XE and SE had different ratios due to the different wheel sizes. XE's with the "Sports Package" had what the sticker specified as a 4.99 (4.10 ???) ratio that I think came standard on the SE's. Look at the sticker on the inside of the driver side door. You will see something there that will tell you the ratio. I can't remember exactly where on the sticker it was but I think it was about 2/3's of the way down. I would look at mine but Nelly rode away on the back of the flatbed about a month ago.
BTW - I just test drove a new Jeep JK Unlimited yesterday. Nice motor but they are a bit tight and uncomfortable compared to the X so :-\
And you had first chance at the skids but ::)

Stopped by the shop today and checked on my X.. These guys seem to be doing a good job so far.... It's gone from this.....(http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p622/totkid760/DSC_0495_2.jpg)
to this(http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p622/totkid760/IMG_1623.jpg)
Saw my rock sliders today also, they look great all primed and painted.. They say tomorrow but I think maybe a couple more days till I get her back..
-
Just don't rush them. Body shop will do a bdtter job that way.
-
UPDATE, I was supposed to get my X back today but unfortunately they called me today instead to tell me it failed the alignment test and that the rear axle they put on it is bent.. lol they ordered another one (#4) from LA and it won't be here till Monday....So maybe next week I'll get her back...lol who knows anymore
-
Should've told them to put in a Dana 60 and been done with it. Probably would have cost less with all of the time invested.
-
It's just the housing that they are replacing Tim. I've already tried to go that route. Lol
-
I got the X back today and it looks great, but by the time I got home the check engine light came on and the brake pads sound like the are rubbing on the drums in the rear. Taking it back to shop on Monday.. I am starting to lose my patience
