What an absolutely terrific day of wheeling and spending time with a great group of club members! Thanks John (GhostX), Max (MaxPower) and all the members who were able to attend to make it a perfect day. And a special thank you to those who provided the entertainment by pushing their Xs to the limit. The obstacle course volunteer said that we (well, not me) were able to tackle and conquer even the most difficult obstacles. The weather was great and we were totally entertained by rock crawling, water crossings, sand hill climbs, lots of mud, an X rescuing a jeep, a couple Xs that needed a little nudge to be on their way, all topped off with barbecue baby! Good times indeed!

Oh boy I missed this great day!!! sorry guys couldn't make it...
Randy and I were doing some facial transplants on our X's... (well thats what she said ;D ;D ;D)
Decided to part out my truck because I will go with a better suited daily driver...
Was looking into the audi A4 but found out that the vw gli autobahn is 15k cheaper and better...will see what I can get for the X first...
I'm going to miss all this 4wd action, but the X has to go....

Another one bites the dust... :'(
That's a bummer Steve, we will miss seeing you on the trail for sure. However, it sounds like Randy is the beneficiary of your move to a more street-centric vehicle.
I believe raping is a strong word...I prefer consensual modding? :D :D We will be looking forward to an update to your build page soon RBD.

Steve that is not good news. You will be missed. Stay in touch, even ride along if you want. We've had too much fun for this all to end like that.....

What size?
16 in rims. If you mount them conventionally its like mounting on a 7 inch Xterra wheel. If you use the bead lock clamping ring as a true beadlock they are 8.5-9" wide, depending on the thickness of the tire bead. I will sell them for less than I have into them + the free labor of the welding.

Mounted as true beadlocks:

Conventionally:

Plus you'll have the ONLY Nissan 6 x 4.5 pattern beadlocks!!

Great pics Marshann and Ray. Looks like everyone had a great time.
Well, almost everyone. What's the story with the FJ that looks like it's about to get washed out to sea? That's a lot of water in the background - and a lot of mud in the foreground.

FrankB things like this are very common in this area. Knuckleheads that don't know what they are doing push their cars to the limit and beyond. We rolled up to this FJ while a couple of trucks were trying the wrong way to pull him out. They strapped to the brush guard first and when it started to come off they re-strapped. They were using straps and a chain, the trucks trying to pull him out were in reverse by choice because "reverse is a lower gear", too many people standing too close, oh and the trucks weren't even pulling at the same time. It was like they were competing against each other not trying to work together. We left before it was rescued and in the end we heard it took 4 trucks to get this FJ out of the mud.
-
Frank, Max is right. It was quite a scene down at the shore line. And his written depiction is very accurate. When the group brought out the chain, we backed up to about 300' out and watched from afar.
The amazing thing was, people in this environment actually went into mud/obstacles knowing they would get stuck...a new phenomenon that I haven't encountered. It seems there was something in the mud that increased the testosterone levels of the driver, and threw common sense out the mud spattered window.
Entertaining for sure...dangerous, definitely.
The group had a wonderful time, I just wished I hadn't forgotten my camera. :( Marshann and Ray took some great photos, so we have that to be thankful for. And the barbecue afterwards was incredible!!
Oz...I sent you a PM regarding the wheels...sorry for the threadjack.
-
I have uploaded quite a few new pictures. In the pictures you may notice an X playing in the mud and it appears his tire is cranked all the way to the right. Yup, donut time! Also, be sure to check out the chain strapped to the back of the FJ. Sheesh! And if you got home and wondered why one of your tires had less air than the other three, we had a young future wheeler in our midst helping dad, shown below. :D
And last but not least, with regard to the final picture in the link, all I have to say is.... The Sampler, three pork spareribs, beef brisket, pulled pork, chicken and a spicy hot link, served with your choice of two sides. Great way to end a run! Thanks guys!

Thanks for posting some more photos Marshann...I browsed through all 275 photos!
Also, I wanted to personally thank a few people for helping during the Xcursion.
Max, for putting the Club in touch with Mike Bishop and the crew at the off road park and directing us the the best post run barbecue I have ever had (extra karma points buddy!)
Marshann, for always having a cold bottled water handy, AND loaning her cO2 tank so I could reseat my bead.
Nick, for helping me change my tire.
Terry, for helping me reseat the bead with Marshann's tank.
Terry and Danny for helping spot me off that pumpkin grabbing rock.
Ray for the post run burgers...thanks buddy.
Patrick and Max for being banner hangers.
Tim and Danny for helping to recover the Jeep in the mud...and Nick for strapping and shoveling with me.
Jaime and Marshan for the post run history lessons.
Dana for teaching us how to quick change a power steering unit.
Shiloh for not showing up in heels. ;D

That may seem like a lot of photos, but somehow I ended up with about 800 pictures. I'll need to learn not to lean on the continuous mode on my camera so much. However, if I moved through the pics fast enough, I could see the progression of a climb and it almost looked like a video. I'll need to go through the album again to get the number down. But it is heartbreaking to delete someone's rig just because I didn't take a good photo. Okay, maybe heartbreaking is a little strong, but still. I figure if I take enough pictures that I should be able to get a few good ones.
My earlier Xcursion photos were taken with a film camera. I'm glad I don't have to buy film by the case anymore. :D

A little late but I wanna say it was great seeing and meeting everyone on saturday. The only regret I have was not putting in my donation, which I had ready but forgot to put in :( I should have given it to john as soon as we met at Costco. Ill double my donation next time to make up for it.
Either way I wanna thank everyone for coming out amd making it an awesome day of wheeling. Got stuck twice but thanks to the members of this board I was aable to get free and continue.
I wanna thank Max for helping me make the decision to bring a larger shovel next time.. my shovel bowed before "plan B" haha.
Can't wait for the next run guys and gals. See you on the trail
:)

I'm glad you like the picture. Yeah, it's definitely a keeper! You should be able to save the picture to your computer from the link I included in my message. My opinion is that if I post a picture, then it is free and available for use by anyone. No need to ask, although that is very considerate of you. If you have trouble saving the picture to your computer, let me know.

That picture of Taylor was absolute adorable. Thank you so much. <3 Definitely my new favorite.

Okay the one of Taylor is very cute but I like this one too. Mind if I use this one on my FB page? I'll credit you as the photographer.

Dude your shovel is awesome don't get me wrong. I mean there is a purpose for all shovels. Like when off roading "plan B" works well. If I was going to play sandcastle at the beach with my niece your shovel would work well. ;D
(Sorry I couldn't resist)

I thought you might like that one. ;D Maybe even put it on your travel bug page as well? Absolutely you can use it as you like and no need for anyone to credit me as the photographer. Well, unless there is money in it for me. JK :D

It was great having your group out there and hopefully you'll do it again soon. Your donation was greatly appreciated and turned over to Mike Bishop ACORA president. I'd love to see more pics and hope you could post on our website as well.

Ron!!
THANK YOU!!
We had a great time running around...high centering and blowing beads! ;D
-
YOU'RE WELCOME. There's nothing wrong with pushing your rig to it's limitations and you guys did that. The course was built for technical training and learning all while having fun.
-
Fortunately, I can resist. I just happen to have an excellent picture of "the infamous shovel," but I've gotten in trouble for posting stuff like that before.
Not sure exactly what you mean by getting in trouble but if you have a "plan B" photo you would like to post I don't have a problem with that.

Yes, if we don't like your shovel post we will just move it to The Island of Misfit Posts.

Personally I think it's a very handy trail shovel. I think it's a heck of a lot better than no shovel ;D

Definitely amateurs, if you go up on Sunday you'll see some well orchestrated recoveries like the four rigs it took to pull me out on Sun. ;D

Yeah, I deleted the picture since it reminded me too much of the first time I met up with the club with an even smaller shovel

Hey Ron, I'll post some pics on the ACORA website hopefully this weekend. I still need to figure out which photos to post though. Once I have time to browse around on your site, I will probably get a better idea. Your organization certainly deserves our support for creating this play area for all to use, while still preserving the natural habitat of the area. Thanks again for the good work you do. 8)

Thank you. The only things I discourage would be pictures of a rig losing fluid because it would create a harmful image of what could be left behind. That goes for any off road forum.

Oh crap, is that at the Azusa OHV park where that truck got stuck?!

A little belated, but I was finally able to get some pics up on the ACORA website. They have everything in the OHV area ... rocks, hill climbs, sand, water crossings and MUD! I look forward to the next trip out there and I promise I won't take as many pictures next time. ;D http://acorausa.com/forum/index.php?topic=3381.0
