Hey all!!
Ok, installed my new CB last night; we got some noise out of it, but we couldn't get any reception from general traffic and it seems like it wants to work..
Soooo.....we tried Ch. 15/17/19 /25/27/29
Anyone have any ideas? I think I'm scouting out Anza Borrego this Saturday...perhaps a mini run out there under the classification of 'CB testing'? If I knew someone close that had a CB that I could just chat with, I would go that route...but I have it hooked up and mounted....just no reception. =/

Each cb radio setup has a max appoximate range of 5-6 mile radius from your location. Obstacles will obviously lower that, especialy inside a canyon. If someone has a cb radio say, 1 don't know, some 15 miles away, and his cb radio has a radius of about 5-6 miles with no obstacles, you will still miss him. Both of you would need to be within 11-12 miles apart. Basically, you need to be within each others radius to communicate. The closer you are to each other, the louder your cb radio gets.

Have you thrown an SWR meter on you setup to see what it is reading. Anything over 2:1 means your radio and antenna need to be tuned.

I agree. Tuning is key to a great setup.

Word. It's a paper weight untill it's tuned with an SWR meter.

Definitely get an SWR meter on it. Do you have a Tunable Antenna? I'm in Aliso, so of you want to meet up to test it, I'm down.
