There will be a few subtle changes, nothing earth shattering, just adding some help.
The BOD, that loosely collected group of people that do a little shuffling behind the scenes of SCCX has been discussing the appointment of a couple of new BOD positions.
After much bribery and back room boilermaking, it is with great respect that the BOD would like to announce the addition of:
Marshann/RockinX
and
Randy/RBDuffer
to the SCCX BOD. Instructions on secret handshakes and sticker hand outs will be forthcoming.
Also, it is with sincere respect that the BOD announces that Frank B. will be stepping aside as a BOD member. Frank's behind the scenes service to the club has been vast, functioning as both club historian and Xcursion policy maker, as well as his very famous pie runs.
The good news is, the pie runs will continue!! Thank you Frank for your years of service, and we all look forward to seeing you on the trail!

I'll tell you, that was one of the more intimating moments I've had with the club. I felt I was in the middle of a scene from an Al Pacino movie when presented with the request. I simply thought I was going to attend an Adopt-A-Trail meeting, but little did I know.
First, the potential gangster is told simply to "dress up" or "get dressed." He is taken to a private place and seated at a long table, right next to the boss. Other Mafioso who are present will join hands and recite oaths and promises of loyalty. The inductee must then hold a burning piece of paper. In some families, the new soldier is paired with a more experienced mobster who will act as his "godfather," guiding him into Mafia life. The inductee must promise that he will be a member of the family for life, and then a drop of blood is drawn from his trigger finger.
Every time I look down and see that bandage still on my finger, I realize it really must have happened. It is an honor to be able to help in any way I can to keep the spirit of this fine club going forward.
Frank B. has been and will continue to be, a great inspiration to us by the examples he has set during his many years with the club. I have the greatest admiration for him and look forward to many more of his infamous runs.

Wow!! Congrats to Marshann and Randy!!
And a big THANK YOU to Paul!! Hope to see you on the trail soon!!!

It wasn't so much your trigger finger Marshann...it was your accelerator foot. ;)
-
Congrats to Randy and Marshann! To think I had the pleasure of trailblazing beside them before they hit the big leagues... :P Looking forward the the glory to follow. Lol @ the Godfather moment.
Frank, you are and ever shall be the man. I've read up on many of your awesome events and actions. Though I'm new to SCCX you have my deepest thanks and respect for helping create such a great group.

Thanks but, just to be clear, I've not been here all that long. Joined in Jan of 2006. There were many others who have done a lot more to build this place over the years - you just don't see that history because the old website crashed and all that history disappeared. Marshann actually goes back with the club much futher than I do.

Yup, an old timer in more ways than one. :-\ :)

Hey, wait a minute... I thought BOD was 'Board Of Drinkers'. That's the last time I get drunk at a secret meeting :D Yeah right!
I would like to thank everyone that voted for me: Ahh....Just two votes.... Oh....Ahh...Thanks John and Frank. I shall rule with a clay fist and a knuckle head. Happy Trails everyone.
This truly is an honor with such a great group of guys and gals. Thanks
-
I forgot to tell you Randy - once you have the BOD tag, you are relegated to a life of abstinence.
We have to set an example for others to follow. Now...about that secret handshake...;)

That is really great! Congrats folks!

Marshann/RockinX has politely requested to step down from the BOD.
Out of respect for her and her contributions to the club, I have honored the request.
If anyone has questions or concerns, please feel free to PM myself or Marshann.
She will be missed from the BOD, but will remain very active within the club.

Yeah, sorry for the delay in responding. I didn't realize John was going to make a big announcement. I had a family issue arise just prior to the Mojave trip and when I returned, I realized I would need to direct my focus on helping out by supporting a family member. So I probably won't be as active as I have been for a while. No need for concern though. We all just do what we need to do.
In the best interest of the club, I thought it would be best to step aside so that someone else could be appointed to the BOD since I would be preoccupied for a while. Being a BOD should be more than a title under your name, so it didn't seem fitting to me to take up that spot. Thank you for all the PMs I got. You are all a class act and I appreciate the kind wishes and support!

I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone that has participated in all the club endeavors over the last two years. It has been a great ride...leading 37 trucks down Rattlesnake Canyon, hosting over 30 trucks at CANVAZ II in Big Bear, and kick starting the Adopt A Trail Program for SCCX after several years of dormancy.
The club also proudly has 19 ham radio operators...pretty cool.
Not to mention all the club Xcursions in between.
Not to mention all the great friends I have made along the way...that won't change. Those of you that know me...know me.
I am laying down by BOD torch and opening up the spot for someone else that has the patience and energy to be involved with a great group of Nissan Off Road enthusiasts.
My real personal obligations not to mention the involvement with goneMOAB will keep me plenty busy.
See you on the trails soon.

This is sad news. John brought this "FORUM" (not club) back from the dead. I bought my X new in 2006 and didn't participate here because it was too much of a "club". John brought the second coming of SCCX and has worked hard to make it what it has become. A place for everyone. In the past club runs we're only lead by the same few people and in the same fashion. Now it's an open ended come one come all environment making adults responsible for themselves. I have seen, first hand, John promote this site to people he meets in parking lots, on other forums and on trail runs. I've seen him pour his blood and sweat into this place. He even prints and hands out stickers, on his own dime, for everything.
I don't buy that you are too busy.

I love this forum. Not for its platform to learn and talk about the trucks and the trails we all love, but its all the people that participate on SCCX. It's all of you that make this forum what it is today. There's no doubt that John has made a HUGE impact on this forum. We are all indebted to your work here. It's up to all of us to make sure we don't let the Ghost down. All of us that were lucky enough run with GhostX, have learned more than a few things.
Keep it classy, tread lightly, and enjoy.
BTW, just because John has stepped down from the BOD, doesn't mean he's going away.
Thanks for everything Ghost!!

I knew we shouldn't have made so much fun of him for the iPhone incident!!!!!

What Danny said!
The part that I high lighted is the closest thing this FORUM has to a mission statement. Again, well said Danny
Thanks to all, for your faithful encouragement. No one man or committee could replace John/GhostX.
We will see John on the trails again after MOAB. But not as a trail leader, just as an exemplary group member having fun.
I will be staying on the BOD as long as it's fun to do so. This group is completely about it's members.
Things will go about the same as before but with a little less coddling and more stepping up.
I will miss John's coddles :'( I'm am stepping up to keep this great forum alive and I challenge everyone to do the same.
I don't mean more board members, I mean trail leaders and initiative takers. This forum of enthusiastic Xterra off roaders is the perfect place to meet and trail with good, quality, fun people.
Thanks to those that responded to John's Comm. Poll. The members so far have decided that CBs will be the standard. But hey, if you want to lead a trail of only four trucks using FRS comms, please post it up! That is what this forum is all about!!!
That's it for now, thanks for working with me through this transition.
See ya on the trail. Randy/Duffman
