Title: Superstition mtn meteor shower
Post by: knightrider on August 08, 2013, 11:25:16 AM
Not really an xcursion so I put it here, but a few friends are going out to superstition this Saturday night to watch the meteor shower, that should be peaking this weekend with lots of fireballs.  Anyone wanna cruise out?  We might camp out and leave early Sunday to beat the heat.

The gf and I are going to camp, some others may camp or are just coming out for a couple hours,  then going home.

I'm thinking we will probably leave around 3 pm Saturday afternoon.  from my house it takes about 2 hrs, to 5pm at superstition.  that way we miss the daytime heat, but still get to explore a little for the people that haven't been there.

Then setup camp and telescopes for stargazing and meteor shower watching late into the night, then probably head out before the heat gets too extreme, it is only supposed to be 106 so not too bad :-)

Of course, I'll text you my address and if you want to meet at my house around 3, or you can meet us out there later if you want, there's cell phone coverage most of the place so that works too.
And temps at night should be in the 70's so you shouldn't need too many blankets.
