This is an event that 4Wheel to Heal is attending, and I'm posting here to see if any of my X buddies want to tag along....
It may conflict w/ CANVAZ III.....but that's life.
This event is put on by Paralyzed Veterans of America Cal-Diego & Cal4WD Assoc. We have been building a relationship with PVA and would like to attend to event. We have not worked out any details for this event yet. But mark the dates if you are interested. If we attend this we will need drivers!
I emailed my contact Jennifer to let her know I'm interested, so post up if you are too and we'll see if we can't help these guys/gals out!!

Thanks for posting this great opportunity to give back to those who gave too much.
I am going to do CANVAZ III, but I voted for the weekend of the 25th. They still haven't locked in a date.
So, if you're interested in doing both runs, please go over to TNX and vote for the weekend of the 25th.
We can do this!

Hey Guys
I 'heard talk' on Kinghtriders build thread that a lot of folks want to go to TruckHaven. I think that this would be a great group to go with, if you are not planing on CANVAZ III. I think I might stay local and hit this run instead. What say you guys?
-
i think the talk of truckhaven was so that i can get my revenge with the wall that crunched up my fender now that i have a real bumper, but this is definetly a good cause, wish i could make it.

I'm up for it, what do I need to do, what are the details.

Latest update from my contact with 4W2H:
Hi Christiaan,
Thank you for the email! I think we will have plenty of help for ODF but I do not want to turn away any volunteers at this point! You are more than welcome to come out and do the trail and camp with us I just cannot guarantee we will have a veteran ride with you. We also are going between the medium and hard trail so I cannot guarantee that anybody's rig will meet the trail requirements. I am concentrating on the Veterans this week but I can give you a call next week to go over more details. As soon as we decide on the trail I can send out the rig requirements. The PVA members that come out will be doing the most difficult trail and they were encouraging us to do that same trail. But I am leading more toward the medium difficulty trail as I am pretty sure not all our volunteers are set-up to do the most difficult trail! It should be a great event and we would like to have you and your friends come out!
Kindly,
Jen S.
I'm gonna reply and wait to hear from her next week. Not entirely sure what to expect but I think a few more people out there showing support for her group could not hurt.
Again: I am doing this as an individual, and I will be attending as such. Just so there are no issues w/ the 'C' word. LOL

I got another email from JEN, who coordinates 4wheeltoheal.
Hi Everyone,
I will try to keep this email as short as I can! I just want to start by saying thank you to everyone for volunteering time to 4 Wheel to Heal! If you are getting this email I have you signed up to join us for this weekend

purposeful bump so this doesn't get buried

Hey Christiaan,
It sounds like they have a lot more trucks than Vets that need a ride. Can we still meet out there somewhere without having to register and such? Maybe with SteveO and the OAUSA guys. Your thoughts Sir ???

Hey Randy,
Yeah...if I'm not shuttling someone out...I might just show up Saturday afternoon and check it out. The scheduled runs are early Sat. morning and if I'm not camping out there I doubt I'm gonna get up at 5 to get there by 7:30/8.
But...I do want to show up and let them know I'm behind them. Pretty sure they're gonna be there through Sunday afternoon...
Lemme know a time you want to meet up!!
-Christiaan :)
-
It's official....I pick a guy up Fri night and camp Friday and Saturday night....
I'll do my best to post details when I know them...
-
Way cool for you Christiaan. Well done! Please let me, and whoever else, know when and where we can tag along. Or if you guys need and more help.
-
Hey Randy!
Ok....the runs they're planning are for 8:30 am from what I saw...so if you are down to get up early and tackle these runs then awesome!...if not, I'm pretty sure there will be plenty to do after the 'official' runs are done and we can find our own trouble to get into ;)
Try me on my phone 949-310-0211 and I'll do my best to post up what CB channel they're gonna be running....
Lemme know if you have any questions!! :)
-
Sounds great! You know I hate getting up early :D I think they have a Ham frequency as well. So I can get one of their Hams to relay to you on CB, if you're out of range. Thanks Dude.
OK, who else is sneeking in? What time sounds good to you? Please chime in, we're very close.
-
I think 0317 is coming too....
-
Welp....Randy it seems like you are the only one coming unless we get a last minute attendee or two....
See you Saturday :)
-
I will call your boys on the Ham to meet up, everyone else here is either out of the internet zone or they're sissies.
-
OK....so, I am glad to report that my weekend with 4Wheel2Heal was a complete success!!
First...we think we've got a crowded group when we do Rattlesnake Canyon with 20+ rigs?!?!??! The trail I ran on Saturday had 33.
33 rigs on one trail. I hear the tail gunner just got back this morning.... ;)
Also....a shocking low number of hams. It was strange, but 99% of the rigs and guys I spoke with were all running CB and didn't really care about Hams....no joke. (that being said....I'm still getting mine soon)
Truckhaven....well, I was mightily impressed with that place. Holy cow....so much terrain. So much to do...see....great stuff. Just wish it wasn't still 9001 degrees in the middle of the day...
4Wheel2Heal is a great charity to be a part of; they have their own website at 4wheel2heal.org, and an event this weekend near Beaumont, CA....which I unfortunately won't be making.
Anyway, I'll post some pix later from our run including our unofficial albino mascot! ;)
All in all....great weekend.
Thx,
-Christiaan

Sounds like you guys had a good time over there! Good stuff.

Wow Christiaan.
That looks like it was a great time for a great cause. I think that I know what 9001 degrees feels like too. :D
