Title: 2N02
Post by: xxSVxx on January 29, 2015, 09:23:12 AM
When was the last time SCCX was on this trail?  When was the last time we did a trash pick-up?  Are we regularly patrolling our trail?

A few of us ran the trail at the end of November.

And I was up there in December ran it from one end to the other.   With the participation that I have had in the past 6 months(with the exception of the guys that got half the car out) I have more or less given up on getting more than a couple rigs up there at any time.   For example. how many of us showed up to the AAT quarterly meeting this month or the fall meeting.  I have averaged at least once month on 2N02 for quite some time plus we have participated in a number of Greg Hoffman's runs which also counts.

If any of you would like to go up and run it picking up and fixing, be my guest Christiaan you don't need an invitation from me.  The only thing I ask is let me know so it can reported to AAT.  They make money from the fed for every hour expended so spend all the time you can.

BTW.  I am retiring next week and don't plan on being around much so if there is anybody who would like to step up please be my guest.

P.S.  Please refer to the thread "AAT quarterly meeting 1/21/15 Please attend"

Destiny and I ran 2N02 all the way to 3N03 and made the left back to the 18. Road was in good condition with a few fun mud holes to play in along the way. (Pics coming soon)

Very clean and even the shooting range looked good. There were 4 vehicles there using it when we went by but looking up at the impact area it was remarkably clean.

About the most exciting thing we found was a Mylar balloon and someone's water bottle that appeared to have fallen out of their car still sealed.  Picked up some more stuff just before getting to the 18.

For whomever is keeping hours, log 3 hours please.

John

It's still there...a little bit further down the hill but not by much. I'd say about 40-50 ft from the road

I know of "someone" who has a semi portable gas welding setup. I wouldn't mind going up there for a day or two camping and recovering. I have no means to haul stuff out, but have a gas torch and winch and will travel..

That's exactly how we got the first half out.  I like it.

Can anyone else do week-days, I'm down.

Hey this is great.  Now happily(Retired old fart now) I'm good for a week day extravaganza lets pick a day.   Only hang up I have is this week up coming.   I'm out of town.

James you have the rattlesnake canyon booked for 2/16 right?    We will be driving right by the car then.  Maybe something could be done.

Whoops.   Correction If we go up Rattlesnake and down to Pioneertown we will not go by the Olds.  Hm.  another trip then.

I can do a Wed-Thurs-Fri kinda thing, just need to plan it out a week or two in advance.

Great response guys.  Sounds like we got plenty of help for any day of the week, but not everyone for the same days.  We will need at least 2 Xs with winches and a HD trailer or skids to haul it a mile down the road to the pick-up site.
Terry, what days are you not available?  We'll pick a date that most of us can make, after you're back.

I have a winch and would be happy to help but I do have one of them 9-5 job-a-roonies

If it happens to fall on a weekend let me know and I'll make time

Hi I will be out the rest of the week and Monday is 0317's Rattlesnake Cyn run but I will be available anytime after that with an X with a winch...

I suggest we coordinate a date while we are all together on the Bradshaw trail next week... I have a HD trailer, lava's old one, and a winch as well.  I would love to get a bunch of us out there and clean up the trail together!

Well when James and I did our Rattlesnake Canyon run we ran up to the Olds just to see what was happening.  James said that when you guys were up there that you got the front half of the car with the engine up within feet of the road.   Well some how the thing has moved or been moved down the slope about 20-25 feet.   So maybe we are fighting some forces that we don't know about.

We also went down to the point that you all took the back half of the car.   And it is GONE.   So the scrappers are busy.

That is the current status of the "half" car remaining on 2N02.

This is excellent campfire topic of discussion stuff, as we will have a strong contingent of active SCCX peeps present.

I don't have a winch or trailer, but I can gladly offer to help move stuff as needed and carry some smaller stuff on the roof rack. :)

I'm assuming roughly the third week in April.  I have not seen any announcement yet to exact date.
