So some of you may have figured out by now I'm working on new project and I recently got the test platform and started ordering the needed steel and parts. We will see who can guess what it is 1st.
The 1st parts to arrive

Rear bumper?
-
With spare mount?!
-
More too it then just all that
-
rear bumper with a swing mount with tie down and a draw system built it...
^^^^^
that is very cool and someone should build it.
-
Closer.....
No draw system though. This may have a swing arm tire carrier plus few other things plus the recovery points.
On side note I may try make plans for a rear winch bumper for when I have time and money to redo mine. But I would sell my shrock rear to help fund that build.
-
DIBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Haha. But on a serious note, I would be interested if and when you decide to sell. ;D
-
Joe got the bumper mod bug.
-
Once this one gets done and I start working on 2nd Gen one, no one may want my old shrock haha
-
I'll definitely be interested in a First Gen rear bumper. Especially one with Jerry Can mounts.
-
Well ya may like what's in the works then
-
A 4x8 sheet a of 3/16 plate steel showed up today. Tomorrow the stock bumper and stock plastic corners are coming off the work will start.
-
Sneak peak.

-
That's so stealthy...its invisible.
Sent from Planet Claire using soup cans and string.
-
Love the picture of the diff on the bumper. So unique.
-
That departure angle is killer.
-
Welds so clean you can't even see them.
-
So the design has been approved. So here's the rough design
(http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/20/b1c489b1e2cce9993bb9616f475b8544.jpg)
-
Oh nice, I like how the sides taper in at the bottom. That's a really nice shape.
-
Thanks. This bumper will be replace the plastic rear corner and stock bumper. So I made it flow around the whole rear end of the X and have nice clean lines. I'll start the fab work up and then everyone will really get the feel of it.
-
I like the way the blue accent color will match the blue in the SCCX sticker. Well done.

Looking good, guys.
Are there future 4x4 conversion plans?
-
I'm not sure what his plans on that one is. I'm working on the rear bumper design right now. So once this one is done I can work on another one.
-
Once this one gets done and I start working on 2nd Gen one, no one may want my old shrock haha
I would be.. keep me updated on the shrock.

Are there future 4x4 conversion plans?
I wish I could say a definite yes. I've been asking Jason on how his conversion went: to convert a 1st Gen would have a few less parts/electronics to worry about compared to a 2nd Gen, but I don't see myself starting it for at least another year until I get a few more skills and info under my belt. Once I get another daily driver then I can let myself really get into the idea. Also I might be moving around that time as well.
Here's another photo of the template so far:
-
You have to get a hold of Steevo and Kenny.
If an OE 4wd conversion is what your looking for.....he solid axel swaps and puts in an atlas in one of these about once a month.
You can probably score the entire OE 4wd drive train, including drive shafts and transfer case, for next to nothing.
Front diff
Front axles
F&R drive shafts
Transfer case
Knuckles/ Spindles
Shifter
All the cables
I think they just throw this stuff away.
-
Oh I'm gonna have to talk to them once I'm back, that sounds excellent. I figured if I were to go 4WD, might as well go SAS, bt if the normal 4WD parts are readily available as such, then great!
-
Someone is selling an entire gen 1 for 3k on here :D
-
and it comes with a shrockworks rear bumper... oh wait nevermind.
-
No need for that shrock rear now. Since the custom built one is getting closer. If I wasn't raining on and off I'd be welding on it. But wet steel and welding not good mix
-
Here's a look at the bumper so far:
-
Real men have anvils in their shops.
-
i dont have an anvil :(
-
I don't have a shop :(
-
Neither do I.
-
That's how I bent the angle of the bumper to corner radius.
-
Looking really nice!
-
Looks great! I'm interested in the seeing the side view of the rear bumper where the steps would be on a 2nd Gen. Also, are you planning on integrating the license plate frame somewhere or just tapping and drilling some holes somewhere?
-
This one has no side steps like one the 2nd Gen for this one, but it could be easily add on. There is how ever a small ledge on the corners that could be used as step. And as for license plate mounting this will be a dual swing arm bumper so it will have a place on swing were the fuel cans will mount.
Here's the latest pics.

ok so i just noticed that the driver side hinge is in the wrong spot. Its suppose to be over on the other side of that line. That will get fixed in the morning
-
Now with the hinges and tire carrier in progress; we decided on an angled swingarm to bend around the corner to give the arms space to swing.

-
Now this is fixed ;) I can upload pics easier. This is an older pic of the bumper off the X and Alex had already got the 1st hand look at it and can chime in with his thoughts but this is one though bumper.

So now everyone has to wait till it's done to see what looks like.
-
Yep, I had the chance to see the bumper in full, and man, it's going to be heavy duty; it'll definitely outlast the truck. And the swingarms are going to work great, they can swing out a full 180 degrees or very close to it. I'm already thinking of things to add to it (lights, possibly stuff an OBA in there). We decided just to go with paint for now, then after I probably add on those mods/extras, it'll go in for a powdercoat.
Aside, oh the fun of waiting on jury duty. :D

So that's why there are so many posts from you today... haha.
-
Well today is the install day for the bumper(s),
by this evening we should have some photos of what's happening. A few more adjustments, gonna finish it up this weekend. :)
-
Yesss!! 👍🏽
-
So I finally got my bumper that Jason made me installed and wow, I am beyond pleased with the outcome. Jason contacted me after seeing my WTB post on a bumper and told me about this project of his he was working on with like 3 weeks to go before my transfer to Washington state, on top of completing Alex bumper and today we finished the install, today being my checkout date. Jason was super super helpful and patient with me as I am a total noob to not only off roading and 4x4 vehicles (this is my first) but a lot of the things that go with it. So I had a million questions for him and he promptly and professionally helped answer them all and just made this a good learning experience for me, nothing but good things to say about Jason and his craftsmanship. Highly recommend everyone in the market for bumper or sliders to give Jason a shot.
Without further ado here are the pictures!

Will post more pictures tomorrow with the spare nismo wheel installed and the trasharoo.
Again, Jason I seriously cannot thank you enough for the amazing and speedy work on such short notice.

Bumper looks great! Awesome work by Jason!
Did Alex's get installed too?

Yes it does, I am in love with it! Alex has the bumper itself installed right now but is getting the swing arms installed this Saturday.
-
Yea Alex comes back on Sat to doing the swing arm on his. There was a little alignment issues of one arm.
But these were fun to do. And now it will be easier to do more 1st Gen rear bumpers.

I mounted the tire just temporarily to see how it looks like all together, I'll add some better pictures later once the remaining nuts and bolts are on.

I cannot thank Jason enough for his work and time on this, to take on this bumper and also Carlos' bumper ahead of his own work on his X.
And, we'll see if the somewhat covered license plate causes anything. Worse comes to worse I can mount it on the righthand swingarm. :)

Thanks again Alex for being donor vic and setting the ground work for this bumper. And thanks for the great feed back.
Ah I see the license plate issue. If any thing it can be moved to be in front of the jerry can. Kinda like Carlos.

That came out nice. Good work Jason. Alex, it really makes your rig look tough. I have the factory tow hitch on my rig. I wonder how everything will fit.

Thanks. And it doesn't work with the factory tow hitch but I could always make it work.

So after the 1st of the year I'm gonna possibly work on another new project. If I can get my X driveable I may get rid of my rear shrock bumper and make a 2nd Gen bumper like the 1st Gen one I did for Alex.
Also since I sold my sliders I'm making some new ones that will more fitting for my beast but will for others as well.
So stay tune and anyone wants me to make something up for them hit me up.

So I'm working on a new project yet again. I'm working on some sliders for the 2nd Gen. Since I sold mine and well I kinda need a set now. So I'll be posting up pics of them as I go.
