Safe Space for Former Xterra Owners / Re: And just like that…..
« Last post by CAWoody on November 14, 2023, 02:46:06 PM »
Welcome tot he dark side young padawan.  Those of use that have moved on from the beloved X still hold fond memories of them.  I see so many Xterra's in Colorado that I am actually looking into buying one just so I have the more capable vehicle available ready to go in the snow.  I have to load a couple of hundred pounds of sand in the bed of the Taco to keep it on the icing roads.

I do have to say, it is nice to have availability of accessories for the Tacoma.  If you plan on hauling or larger tires, i strongly recommend regearing and getting the tuning done.  I wen to Adain James and Sibi Tune for my set-up and it made a world of difference.  Make sure to post some pictures of the new ride.

That's too bad. Did you ever find out what happened?

Anyone who is still here…

My X went down last Saturday, one car length short of the window at in & out. It was a super sad day for me personally. I had spent several months rehabbing her. Had to change out several of the rivnuts, repair a hole that I found in the roof (Because of a rivnut) about the size of a silver dollar, started to repaint her with Raptor liner, replaced to 02 and MAF sensor, replaced the stock roof rack and was working on the off-road light conversion….. Then this. She threw no codes, but just wouldn’t run anymore.
Had her towed to Nissan and of course sales calls me before the shop did, making me promises of we will take care of you and we will give you 10k for your broken down Xterra….. BS! Ended up with a Taco. TRD Off-road Crew cab, Long bed. She is nice, but emotionally it’s a mixed bag. Miss the X but am overall pleased with the outcome.

Hope you are all well, maybe some of us Taco drivers can meet up with with the remaining X drivers and drool over each others rides.

Jeff

I was monitoring that fire a little bit and saw an article on the aftermath today on the news. Looks like it was pretty destructive. They were blaming part of it on the amount of rain we got last winter that bought out so much grass.

Looks like a major chunk of the Preserve is burning.  It also looks like some of the camping spots we used in the past might be wiped out.

It's good you caught that.  Scammers are getting harder and harder to detect.

They sure are at that. It's lucrative because they by and large have no consequences. Most are off shore and even if identified their host nation governments will do nothing to them other than get a chunk of their illegal earnings.

I got a follow up email from Baja Designs today. They weren't sure how this criminal got into their accounts but they took fast action and seems like the issue may be stopped. Hopefully people don't open up the malicious one as they stated they believed it would open a link to peoples credit cards that have been used to pay for services through Baja Designs. They are a stand up company that makes a great product and local. It saddens me to have to live in times where so much crime is committed by criminals using a computer.

If anyone gets an email from Baja Designs regarding a document they are sharing with you is now public under your profile "Do Not" open it up. I got the email and contacted them via the phone as it appeared suspicious. They confirmed it was a scam and they started getting calls about it today. Whoever is doing it also sent it to their employees. The person I spoke with wasn't sure exactly how malicious it really is but none of us want any of that foolishness.
