I am new to the club and would like to say hi and ask if there are any good beginner rides in the SO cal area.

What part of the OC are you in?  I'm sure we can come up with some ideas for easy but fun trails.

I am in Mission Viejo and would love to take the X on some Dirt.  I am thinking of going up to the top of Saddleback this weekend Maybe Sunday to kick off the new Year.

If you want "the" book buy a copy of Peter Massey and Jeanne Wilson's Backcountry Adventures Southern California. It covers many many trails "around town" and out to Nevada/Arizona and the Sierras. I've gotten my money out of mine a hundred times over. It includes GPS coordinates and trail ratings. The first chapters include off-roading tips and lots of history of the area.

Yikes, looks like it's out-of-print.

I've used this one too: http://www.4x4books.com/gtcas.htm

I like sammiches.  And bacon.  Sammiches with bacon.  And chips.  Lots of chips.

Hi.  We have lots of trips that are begginer and family friendly. Just get familiar with the Xcursion Rules and Recommendations for trail rides and check the dates.  Try signing up for some of the other forum boards like XOC, NOR, thenewx, ronin wheelers  ETC.
