3N69 (Gold Mtn) & 3N61 (Jacoby Canyon) 09-20-13
« on: September 20, 2013, 11:11:11 PM »
Went up to Big Bear this morning with the Mrs. and her parents. Father in-law was driving an upgraded TACO.

Started with 3N69 (Gold Mtn), it was a very fun trail with challenging spots for all types of Rigs.

First real obstacle was the "Ledge". For those who have not been on it, the ledge can be two feet tall in most areas. We found the easiest route was to hug the left of the trail along the fence. Unfortunately some dirt bags cut a hole in the barbed wire in order to drive around the obstacle. (Stay on designated trails.)

Of course I didn't go for the easiest route. I picked a line more towards the center and the right.

I have 35's and a 4" lift on top of them and my bumper was still close to contacting the ledge.

Working both pedals, I walked her fairly easy.

One of the best parts of the trail was doing the 3N69A bypass to Talus Slope. I found it the best part of the trail because it was something I have never experienced. The sound of all those stones and rocks moving and crashing around under the Rig was as the Mrs. would describe it, "sounded like we were crushing a million gremlins."

To finish off the day and bring the Mrs's nerves back to normal, we ran 3N61 (Jacoby Canyon). Not a really challenging trail but a scenic and enjoyable drive. I want to go back and drive it in the opposite direction and perhaps in the winter or spring to see the snow or the creek filled.

We didn't take any pictures on Jacoby Canyon because there wasn't really any obstacles. We are working on putting a video together as my father in law has a go pro camera on his TACO.

Nice pics!  Your Pop in-law did great to get his long and low Taco through Gold Mtn. ;)

Yea, the Taco that was with me did fine with 31's no lift and a rear locker. Your pro 4x should be ok.
