I need a winch hole template
« on: March 05, 2020, 07:12:24 AM »
Hi guys, I'm building my own ARB/Hefty/Shrockworks style front & rear bumpers/tire carrier.  I want to leave room for a winch.  How much space do I leave reserved for the winch and what holes/template do I use for anchoring said winch to the bumper?  Warn M8000 as a reference shows 10.5"x4.5" holes, Badlands Offroad (Harbor Freight) 12k lbs winch shows 11"x 6".  I could use more info/pics on template & specs/pics on how much space to leave open for a winch.

It might make things easier to use a commercially available winch mounting plate as the base inside of the bumper. There are tons of them on the market. Even if you don't use one, you can look at a few of them to see the dimensions they use for their mounting holes. Most of them have at least one long set of holes or multiple sets of holes so that they can adjust to various winches. Take a look at the 3rd image on this listing: https://www.ronstoyshop.com/shop/curt-hitch-mounted-winch-mount-31010/
