Great post Phil!  As a closet rail fan, I have gone out to the Dos Cabezas siding, and would like to one day check out the Carizzo Gorge trestle.  It is about a 2-2.5 mile hike from Dos Cabezas, but some very cool history of the original San Diego and Arizona rail line is out there in the desert.
