1st off, congrats to Paul, I hope you get a free t shirt for this.

My shellback consisted of wearing my underwear on the outside, being covered in food scraps from the ships mess, rolling an egg down the flight deck of the Independence and kissing the airbosses feet while he sat on his guilded throne dressed like Neptune. Now a days they call it hazing and not considered PC. SHEESH!

I crossed the line in 1982 and it involved a bit more than what you describe. Following the event 40 folks were in the hospital with chemical burns to their eyes and bodies and the ship stank for days from all the vomit and foul rotting food that covered the flight deck.
