Gold Mountain Saturday Oct. 1st
« on: September 30, 2011, 05:53:57 AM »
Hi,
I'm thinking of running up and doing Gold Mountain (near Big Bear) Tomorrow morning.   I sure would like someone to make the run with.   I have quite a bit of four wheel experience just never done Gold Mountain before.   If interested, let me know.

I got to work but I sure would like some photos of the first obsticle and your x going through the rock garden if possible.
This isn't Santa's Workshop.  This place smells like mushrooms and everyone looks like they want to hurt me.

Most people here need about a months notice to go on an Xcursion. :-\ Have fun and watch out for that big tree at the first rock crawl.

Well looking at the activity in this forum.   Looks like there aren't too many people that do anything around here.

There are quiet a bit of us that do/would go on wheeling trips.  But a day or two is kinda short notice.  If I wasn't tearing apart my front suspension for a rebuild/clean up I would def go with you.  Next time you plan on going up let me know.  I just did that trail with Arch'sX about a month or two ago.  It was definitely fun up there!

Thats an awfully quick judgement and fairly presumptuous for someone looking for trail partners....with 2 days notice....and 4 posts on this site.  ;)

npgtech is right....a group just ran this trail a couple of weeks ago, and it was planned for a little while, and everyone had a great time.

There is a group headed to Sedona in late October if you want to join us....

So for my edification.  Where was this run that happened a few weeks ago planned and published, if I might ask.  It certainly wasn't in this forum, the last post before I placed one, was nearly a month ago.  I was going anyway and thought it would be nice to see if anybody wanted to go along.

Should I have gone to some other forum to see CURRENT news and plans for Southern California?   I just thought that this was the Southern California Xterra Club forum and Southern California plans should be on this forum.  Presumptive?  Maybe..

It was published on TheNewX for sure.  The people that put that one together are much more active there then here.  Unfortunately, some people might like one site more then others.  Yes cross posting happens, but not as often as much of us would like... especially when it comes to hittin' up the trails.  I like this site a lot, but it definitely doesn't have much in the way of people posting up when they hit up the trails or how often they do.  I know that Steve of RuggedRocks is planing a trip sometime in the next few weeks, when I'm not sure.

But as far as where trails ventures are posted, you pretty much have to play all "sides" and check all the forums.  For me, I'm pretty much on TheNewX all the time, sure I lurk here, and post, but I'm there more often then here.

I agree with NPGTech...you might have better luck with a spur of the moment run over at Thenewx.org.

Picky, picky.  Kind of agressive attitude for a newbie.  Mellow out!  The forums are not neccesarily region specific.  They are all useful tools in their own right  If you want last minute trail buddies, go to www.doitontherocks.com.  Otherwise, keep the negativity to a minimum.

Dudes, I disappear for a few weeks and come back to XOC.  Play nice!

tl11_oc, there used to be a lot more activity here with monthly runs and other shenanigans (John, Dan, you know what I'm talking about).  But things have kind of slowed down.  However, if you have an idea for a run and you are looking for people join in then by all means post up, even if it's last minute.  Sometimes people just need an invitation to get off the couch.  Also,  if you have an idea for a weekender, post it, but try to give everyone a little time to make plans and get ready.

Anyway, I hope you had fun running Gold Mountain.  The last time I ran it with the club it was a hoot!

I'd rather be happy than right any day.
