Shenanigains
« on: June 12, 2012, 08:10:56 AM »
So I talked to Hooman Nissan yesterday cause I am very seriously considering buying my new Frontier. The guy I talked to said that no dealers in a 250 mile radius had the 2012 Pro4x in Blue or Red. Apparently there is one in Orange county that has both. Shenanigains I say!

A couple years ago I did a job for a man that was the South West parts liaison between Nissan and the dealers.  I told him I wanted an Off Road Xterra and he explained that in California, South of Sacramento they don't sell very many Off Road or 4wd trucks.  The demand just wasn't there.  North of Sac and Arizona, Nevada you will find them but not here in SoCal.  When I found my Off Road it was after a year of searching Autotrader.com on a weekly basis.  If you want new you will probably have to special order it and pay full price.  Because of this I'd bet you would be able to get a decent price on yours if you sold it privately. Either way good luck....it's exciting to get a new vehicle!
This isn't Santa's Workshop.  This place smells like mushrooms and everyone looks like they want to hurt me.

I just checked USAA's car buying service and for some reason they don't have the blue as an option like the main Nissan site does, but looks like at least 3 dealers near me have it. Not to mention 5k+ in savings!  Good luck! :)

USAA doesnt have records of actual stock. That is what I ran into yesterday. They told me 3 dealers in my area had it, and they tried to sell me Black or Silver. If im paying $30k for something, I want my color dangit lol.

Mossy Nissan has four in stock inthe San Diego area. Most of them came with an A/T but one was manual. Check their website for more details.

As much as I would love it if Shi got a manual, I know it will not happen....      :(

When I bought my Pro4X last year, I had a bit of trouble finding one in Night Armor WITHOUT leather seats.  I also had a couple of local dealers here in SD try to sell me white ones or whatever.  My response was the same.  When you buy a used vehicle, sometimes you find the right one at the right price in not the perfect color, and you go for it.  That's how I ended up with a white '02.  I definitely didn't want my NEXT one to be white!!  LOL!  The trouble with San DIego is that almost all of the dealerships in town are owned by Mossy, so even thought they have a lot of inventory, if they don't have what you want, they can't or won't swap for one.

Costco put me in touch with OC Nissan in Garden Grove, and even though they didn't have exactly what I wanted either, they found 2 or three at other dealerships, and swapped for one, after trying to 'give me an awesome deal' on the black one they had in stock, of course!  Once again, it was like "I'm going to end up paying well over 30K out the door by the time I'm done with this thing...  is it worth it to save a few hundred bucks and regret not getting the color I REALLY wanted every morning when I step outside and look at the thing??"  No thanks!

Anyway, I can't imagine the high-end 4WD's not being available down here... tons of ppl have them.  Like I said, where I eventually bought mine, she was able to track down a couple different ones for me pretty easily.  I can message you her info, if you want to check with her.  If you're a Costco member, they do work with their Auto Buying Program there.  Nice not having to haggle, or worry if you got shafted!

Never expected I would have had to go that far to buy a new car, but GG isn't as for from you.

Yeah, I have talked to a few dealers. If I am going to pay $30k+ for a vehicle, its going to be the color I want. The thing is that I am happy with my Xterra too, so I have no problem walking out the door if they wont make the deal I am looking for. We are USAA and Costco members, so I am going to do all of the pre-approvals and whatnot ahead of time cause I hate haggling with car salesmen. That is how I ended up with the Xterra I have now. Some idiot tried to convince me that I didnt want a 4WD vehicle cause ladies should drive cars. I got a call from a dealer in the OC earlier today that claims to have my truck in both blue and red (the colors that I want), so we shall see. I just might have a new truck in a week or two. :P

I bought mine through carsdirect.com -- at the time all the dealers here still had full inventories of the '08s, not '09s or the OffRoad model.  And I wanted the '09 OR (cause of the silly off road lights...not a great reason in hind sight).  Anyhow, carsdirect.com located one in Tahoe area and had it trucked down in a couple weeks time.  So I ended up buying a truck sight unseen -- first time I saw RoXy was when I picked her up at Stadium Nissan down in OC.  Of course I'd done test drives on the '08 Xterras, just not an '09 or the OR.
