Blue Loctite
« on: May 03, 2013, 10:33:55 PM »
Hey

I went to Napa tonight to purchase a bottle of blue loctite; they didn't have any 'loctite', but tried to sell me 'jimbo's blue sticky shit for threads n such'.

I walked out empty handed.

Is there a noticeable difference between 'napa brand' blue thread locker and Loctite?  Is it worth driving around looking for 'Loctite' or am I well enough off w/ the standard stuff?

Thx

-Christiaan

Hey Christiaan,

As long as you weren't buying it off of some swarthy guys truck you won't go wrong with NAPA's brand.  As a matter of fact it looks like
Amazon is selling a number of different brands of thread locker Loctite, Permatex, Vibra-tite  ::), Sportsman's Bench, Pro Honda, 3M, Superglue, etc., etc.

In other words you get a brand name and you can't go wrong.   Well I'm not so sure of Vibra-tite but then.

Loctite is the brand name.  What you are looking for is a thread locker compound.  Its very common.  Napa's is good, even Walmart sells it.

This made me hungry... Should we be worried?
