Big Bear Tuesday 11-04-14 (Heartbreak Ridge)

Description: Trail includes narrow canyons, steep shelf roads, large boulders and sharp rocks. Lockers, skid plates and high ground clearance recommended. Not super difficult but fairly tough. Some aggressive stock vehicles with good articulation might get through, but tow-strap assistance will likely be necessary and body damage is possible. Remote location.

Features: Travel on easy forest roads to remote canyons in search of rock crawling challenges. Not a scenic trail. Many old mines in the area. Some roads allow green-sticker vehicles, others do not.

A total of 16.4 miles. 3 to 4 hours.

I have not done this trail but want to cross it off my list. Come join the exploration or just follow along. Wrong turns are possible and part of the fun. Fun group run, not a professional guided tour.

What fun James.    I have done that a number of times.   Toughest turn to find is point 03 on the map.   The issue is there must be 10 little roads that spur off of 2N61Y.   The correct turn is marked by a 2 1/2 ft Rock Cairn about 10 feet from the road on the right, built by a friend and myself(We spent about 2 hours finding in the first place and were never going to miss it again  ;) )

You might also want to try 2N70Y to round out the day.

I would love to join you but will be in Utah next week.

Enjoy
Terry

Because there is no interest in the run I will be on the trail tomorrow, but I will not be at the meet location at the designated meet time. Any last minute sign ups PM me. More future runs are pending.

If I didnt work on Tuesdays and I had a rig capable of a difficult trail I would have gone.

Very fun trail, high ground clearance recommended and 4lo. Lockers were not used on the trip.
