Yes, it uses full-size propane tanks. So a 10 lb or a standard 20 lb bbq tank would work. I have a couple 20 lb tanks at home, but I simply won't have the room for one by the time I bring the grill, griddle and bbq attachment, plus my camping gear.

I have an adapter to use the small green cans in an emergency, but this grill is a beast and can really go through propane if being used to capacity. I only got about 8 mins of use from all three burners on a brand new full green can. Depending on how long those tri-tips need to cook and how hot, someone would have to be swapping out green cans quite a few times. :)

I'll search for a place around my house where I can top off my 10 lb tank too. The feed store I use has changed their policy and charges a 5 gallon minimum now. That sucks when you need to top off a 2.5 gallon tank that's less than half empty.

Ok.  I'm a charcoal man myself, so I just can't justify going out and buying a tank just to back up.

I'm hoping some other propane guys will chime in and lend a hand.

Worst case scenario; I can bring my bbq and some coals.  Not the quickest way, but they come out super yummy!!!

Joe, this U Haul does propane refills.
(link to store page with hours and whatnot)

I forget where you moved, so this might not be close to you.
I get my tank refilled at U Haul.

I will have my 10# propane tank with me.  It's pretty full.  I have an adapter to run full size propane and green bottle size propane simultaneously.  If I get a chance, I'll run it over to the U Haul and top it off.

Sounds like we'll have plenty of good gas (ha!). And thanks Steve! I know right where that U-haul is... it's only about a block from the feed store I usually go to. I'll get over there and top my tank off before I leave.

Hey guys well the mild salsa came out a lil on the spicy side and the spicy salsa came out bomb! When I make the pico de gallo I won't add any kick to it. Also I'm brining 4 lbs of asada.
