Ocotillo Wells 12.07.16 thru 12.08.16

Weather has been great and I really need to get outta dodge, so I was thinking about another overnight. No real plans as of yet, thinking about heading down in the early afternoon and wheeling around then find camp. Next day break camp and go wheeling or head home early. Any takers?

I'm always down for some weekday dirt.  Maybe swing by the BLM area for some coyote calling >:D

The Duffman and I had yet another successful run into the desert. Weather was perfect, zero wind not so much as a breeze graced our camp. No other people seen or heard so that was very nice. I think the cook did a decent job with the Dutch Oven although he was being a "slow cooker"... Stemming from our many and vast discussions, I think we have many of the worlds problems solved now it's just up to the rest of the earth's populace to implement those ideas. Many of you came up in discussion topic and it was just about all good. Frank B's humor was definitely a fun topic as was some of the more funny pranks to pull on people in the desert. Some interesting things we did is pattern a shotgun, no matter it was a good 130 yards. Confirmed suspicions that cold beer is still very good. HAM radios work at crazy distances. Empty cans of Coors Light show up in random places like bumpers etc. Cold war era commie 25mm flares still work flawlessly. One of us learned the "utility" benefits of two rocks being evenly spaced side by side. Air mattresses don't always hold air very well and always remember to bring your own camp chair or you might be sitting in the sand using a pulled out rear seat from the X. Last but not least, having someone else cook breakfast and do the dishes for you is worth it's weight in gold. If you are sayin to yourself "self" you shouldda gone with these guys you would be correct.

Can't wait to do it again and see what else I can learn.

I don't know.  Those two in the desert alone, I'm not sure I want to see pictures. :o

Sounds like a good trip guys, no pictures necessary from two of our most "tech savvy" non-member-members.

Long live the flip phone! I would still have mine up and running if it wasn't non-compatible with the technology today.

I'm sorry I missed that, it sounded like fun.  Actually, Heather and were in the desert all this week . . . sort of.  After all the discussion in my thread asking for expedition advice, I learned that what I really like is a nice hotel in the desert.  We just spent the past week at the Palm Springs Hilton.  I had a bunch of accumulated points, so all I had to pay for was parking.  It's an older hotel that could use a refresh, but it's clean and located within 3 to 4 blocks of quite a few very good places to eat.
