Roof rattle HELP
« on: August 12, 2017, 12:04:19 AM »
Help you guys see if anyone has encountered this issue
I fabricated my own roof rack took apart the whole set up to clean up the roof. Reassembled and installed light bar with off road gorilla mounts. But had a rattle vibration however you wana describe it. It not metal it's something else. I changed the wind flare with a lockbox and nothing. Everything is secured. Would it happen to be the light bar across the roof? Anyone has similar issues

Alot of people get wind noise from the light bar.  They make vibration isolators that can help, also moving the light bar helps.

When i put my off road lights on , my wind deflector in front of wet box started to make a flutter sound,
it took me forever to figure it out,
My solution was to  remove wet box(PITA) and use some form of stuffing to fill the void
,it has worked for 3 years now no  issues

:o dammm are those better then the off-road gorilla ones, I ordered from them think it was only a 2buck difference. Ima also insulate the edge trim of the wind flare and I'm thinking of sticking a rubber mat under the basket to try and see I can get rid of that noise. I'm just not trying to remove and attach the light bar, it's not a pain but dealing with the roof rack screws getting stripped or the bottom part just not cooperating and the thought of removing the headliner is just a nightmare, my past attempts haven't been so good so I'm not trying to ruin this one.

Took advice from everyone
Used some acoustic sound proof on the roof itself. Payed out a commercial foam mat to cushion the drop in lockbox.
Test run one without the light bar no rattle or vibration at all.

Also got the off-road gorilla silencers once I mount the roof lightbar again I'll post to let you know how it worked out. Hope this is the end of the rattling
