So i called the stealership and umm 2 legs and an eye. $770 a side plus taxes. Sooooo

Alternatives?!

Has anyone actually done the frontier magnaflow on the Xterra, I just can't see myself dropping that much on a catalytic converter at this time.

if you are not in CA, buy whatever cats you want.  xterra and frontier are all the same, all 4 cats are identical on xterra 2005-2015 and frontier 2005-2019

Well if you want to stay CA compliant with your year, you can either buy the magnaflow and hope by the time you return they have gotten CARB cert or buy OEM.  Buying the wrong part number magnaflow will not really help you though, if they look it up it will show for early years as the later year has a different part number.   OEM is your only legal option honestly.  AFE may be fine but they will never be CARB compliant.  AFE, despite being located in CA does not really CARB cert much of their stuff.

because nissan changed the ecu in 09, they have to certify the 09+ models separately even though the physical part is no different.  magnaflow may be running into issues with higher standards that they are not able to meet.

All the more reason to LOVE my '07.

And hate Cali.

$800 for the (2) MagnaFlow carb legal catalytic converters & (2) O2 sensors.

Or

Drop the whole set up to avoid future issues.
$2800 for (4) MagnaFlow carb legal catalytic converters(front&rears) & (2) O2 sensors, afe carb short headers and afe carb exhaust system.

Thoughts please.

just know, those CARB legal cats are not CARB legal for your year vehicle.  if any smog tech actually looks up the part number during an inspection, you will fail due to non compliant parts. 


I ran into this very same issue with my volant intake. I bought the volant intake for the early year xterras and had a CARB EO number that only covered up to 2011, when I went to smog, the tech looked up the EO number and failed me because my year was not covered, I had to contact Volant to get a different CARB EO sticker which they did not want to give me because of the part number intake i had bought(I had to provide proof of purchase).  i had to argue that the later year part number was the same exact part except for the giant hole they put in the box to clear the new horn location of the later year xterra.  It was a pain in the ass and did not work, they would not give me the updated CARB sticker.

I did run my X cross country and putover 4k miles in 3 days picking up different debris along the way
Reason I ask is I removed code that was 3 weeks ago n im driving everyday but no code again.

Catalytic converter itself i will be going after market, due to reregistering my car under Virginia. And my specific area does not require a smog. So now ima focus on easiest fitment.

Im trying to get any input from someone that has magnaflow catalytic converters. Are heat shields needed? They are stainless steel so idk. Thars whats stopping me now. Thoughts please.
The thing about heating up for a catalytic converter and lighting high grass. Its kinda high and have a skid on at all times so thoughts please.

I had them. Never had an issue.  Don't remember if they had he heat shield.

For what it's worth.....I had a very similar thing happen to me. Didn't have the sticker so I went back and made one. As long as you have the EO number....that's all you need. Then I took a piece of clear packing tape and covered it and stuck it on (so it looked laminated). They just want a number to enter to look up and definitely don't know what the original sticker looked like.
