First shakedown with the X- Tripps Flats
« on: December 17, 2019, 09:50:22 PM »
As we approached the OHV sign with the Black “Most Difficult” picture on it, my wife asked .. “Does the 4WD work?”    ???  It was at that moment I realized I bought a used 4X and never checked if the 4WD worked...  Of course I lied and said yes, and that maybe they should hop out and walk up in trail for photos..   luckily 4Low got a good workout and with open diffs, momentum was key! Had a great time though and looking forward to removing the rear sway bar and throwing some more Swag at it. [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Nice shakedown run! I've never done Tripp Flats, just the Thomas Mountain side of those trails.

Oh yeah,  Thomas Mtn would be a good run. I’ve camped up there years ago on moto’s.  Tripp flats is fun but it’s a pretty short run. Good shakedown though to see what (doesn’t) work!

1st gens pretty much all have a limited slip in the rear end which helps a ton, the 00-01 were the best because they had a higher initial torque but the 02-04 were still acceptable.

Glad you and the family had a good trip.

Oh cool, good to know. I was wondering why it performed better than an XJ I used to have.  Im gonna pull the rear swaybar this weekend and see if I can gain a little articulation. Thanks for the info!
