Gold Mountain Trail however, can be fun with a few good spotters.

Holcomb Creek Trail is close to re-opening soon after a 3 year closure due to fires. I always found it to be a bit easier than JB.

are there any decent trails with some water crossings? i think it would be awesome for a summers wheeling trip if we mix it up between wheelin hiking camping and some good ol fashion creekin (or is that just a mentone thing )

I went through there with a trail crew last season and at the time it was definitely not easier than John Bull.

Dishpan Springs/Deep Creek Trail (3N34) east of Lake Arrowhead in the San Berdoos has a nice water crossing. Once across the creek gatekeeper to Dishpan can be about as tough as gatekeeper at JB, as I recall. It's been a few years since I've been. Probably should have at least 33s, sliders and a rear locker, or be willing to take a few bumps and bruises.

Actually sounds really fun, but will be in Vegas for a bachelor party that weekend.  I'll keep trolling for the next one that might work, staying on the road (no matter how fast) just isn't the same as going off it.
