this trail is pretty easy, not very long. Stock vehicle COULD make it if willing to get on the skinny. if you have a lift and or slider you should be fine. we will meet at the mcdonalds near costco, on friars road, near the 15 fwy at 7am. we will wait about 15 minutes or so for anyone else to show up. you can call me at (909)534-4042 for more info i may or may not re check this post. My names Lee. all vehicles are welcome. except jeeps,.....no jeeps.  ha kidddddding.

I didn't see any Xterras at Pancake Rock on Sunday morning. The trail up was fun although it seemed more rutted than the last time I was up there. (But it seems like I always feel that way.) I wouldn't recommend keeping the sliders on however- I doubt they'd be straight after all those ruts. Nice weather in the morning and it never got too hot as me and a buddy spent the afternoon Geocaching around the area even heading up the Viejas Grade from the casino into Descanso.

Dave,
We just got back from Vegas last night.  I didn't know anyone was planning on doing pancake rock.  That is a really fun trail and only 30-40 minutes away from SD.  Sorry I missed it.  Did you guys try going all the way to the end and out Carveacre Rd? The guy that built a home at the end/start of the trail somehow got Cleveland NF to put a gate in and it always seems to be locked.  Next time.

We had a good time.  Definitely rutted out trail.  Here's a link to some photos.  I didn't take any pictures otherwise I'd post them here.

What time did the group start up the trail? I got there around 8:45 and decided not to head up all of the way. But I wanted to see a little of the trail, so without airing down or disconnecting, I drove up until the first big turn, waited for anyone to show and looked up the trail to see if everyone had already headed up. I only saw a solo white SUV ahead. Bummer!

You must have just missed us.  I swear we got there right around that time.  We ended up seeing that white Landcruiser up on top of the rock.  Did you decide to go because of the post here?  If I had known you wanted to go we could have planned better.

Do you guys think a mildly build S model would be able to do it? By mildly built I mean sliders, 2" lift, some skids?

Did you have any unlocked trucks with you in your run?

That's similar to my setup (but I have a locker).  With all of the extra weight and my warn out springs I'm barely above stock height now.  If you're willing to use your sliders and skids you should be able to make it.  I had my share of grinding and sliding coming back down.

I still don't have my armor in yet, but I will be more than willing to use them once I do. I'm only getting the radiator, engine, and t-case skids. But those cover the most vulnerable spots in my opinion.

I also have a winch that should be up and running soon, just need to order some junk to wire it up.

you'll be fine with some skids and sliders. just choose your line, and you'll be fine.

yeah Jeff and Lee had the fortune of a locker whereas I am open front and rear. Jeff and I seem about on par with what we could do. I had more ground clearance and more flex and was willing to be a little more recklace with my not as nice truck but where he lacked in ride height or ability to flex out and stay on the ground, he certainly made up with that nice locker he has in the back (that gnarly wheel stand). We both used our sliders though and got on 3 wheels more than a handful of times. made for a ton of fun.
