Yes it takes some trimming from the rear wheel well about 1 1/2, I used an angle grinder to do it.

Well I guess I will find out.  That was what they wanted me to do.

Don't know the thickness exactly.  I think it is 1/4"

Dual batteries is one of the best thongs that someone can do to their rig for being out for days on end. Terry, have you considered a small solar battery maintainer as well?

Yes I have.   Are you aware of any that are small enough but provide enough output?

Terry, can you give a little more info on the Odyssey battery and where you plan to mount to Optima?

Yes sir I'll try.   The Odyssey is touted as the best battery you can buy on the forums.  I do understand though that the Diehard Platinum from a number of sources is supposed to be the same battery as the PC1500.  So it would be your choice, I suppose.

I have run an Optima Yellow top for about a year and a half now.   I originally intended to put the Odyssey back where the spare tire was.  Well the Odyssey is bigger and much heavier  (Don't know if that translates to quality or not) than the Optima.   So I decided to put the Odyssey up front (Had to do the old battery terminal extension mod it wasn't an R type) and put the Optima back as the secondary.  It will work out much better I think lighter and smaller.   But we shall see there is still some fabrication ahead.

Ah, thank you sir.  I know my buddy Joseph (soulcontrol on here) has mounted two optimas in the back on each interior side of his frame.  From what I understand, He used a fairly off the shelf battery box to mount them there.  His are mounted sideways, terminals on each pointing towards the interior of the vehicle.

I'll ask him what he's using for mounting and maybe to snap a pic if you're interested.

Yea frontys have a ton of extra room under the bed, we are not as lucky.
