Any GPS coordinates for a spot for the trailer? I can dry camp for a night or two so I don't have to drive two plus hours to get to the meet up spot then drive four to six hours on the trail. Where is the trailhead / starting point?

GPS coordinates for the trail head are on the map in Post #1, and I cut and pasted this from the Rattlesnake Canyon Trial website:

Rattlesnake Canyon, located in San Bernardino County California, runs from Hwy 247, 18.22 miles east of the four-way stop in Lucerne Valley to Burns Canyon Rd (Just east of Forest Service Rd 2N02). At the trailhead on the desert floor at Hwy 247 the elevation is 3,102 ft. above sea level. The trail gradually climbs to 5,750 ft. above sea level.

Is it cool if we park and wait at the trail head; just off of 247? We will be coming from Yucca Valley.

(Not that I don't want to drive in a giant convoy of X's and such)

Here's a Google Map of the info that was posted on the 1st post. I don't know how to make it editable by anyone... I can collaborate with anyone (if you want me to invite you via your email address)

No problem on waiting at the trailhead for the group.  The GPS coordinates for the trail head are on the map in the first post, as well as one of my last posts giving driving directions to the trail head as well.

We should be there between 10:30-10:45 at the trail head.  However, this could be earlier, so watch the boards.  Do you have a ham radio?

FYI don't drop off a trailer and leave it at the trail head.  It might not be there when you get back.

Remember folks, much of Rattlesnake Canyon is privately held, and open to OHV use at the ranchers' discretion.  They are cool with it, but please do not do anything that will jeopardize that.  I.e., don't mess with the cows and/or assume you have free reign to trample where-ever.
I like sammiches.  And bacon.  Sammiches with bacon.  And chips.  Lots of chips.

HEY GUYS!!!  NEED A FAVOR!!!

GHOSTX is giving me a ride up the mountain, but will not be able to give me a ride back down...

Can someone give me a ride back down the mountain??  He's staying in Big Bear and to drive back down the hill after driving up it all day is asking a bit much....Can anyone help out?

I plan on parking at the Kmart and leaving my truck there until we're done, so if anyone could help out it would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks so much and if you have any other questions just message me!!

Thanks,

-Christiaan

I'm bringing my X.  BUT, she's sitting this one out.  As much as I'd love to bring her, she's 2WD, and with such a large group the last thing I want is to be an anchor and slow 30 rigs down because I need to get winched/strapped over this and that.  I'm totally good riding shotgun and absorbing some good info on products and tips on what to do/not.  Can't wait!!

To GhostX, my brother owns a Gen2 Xterra, and I have a 01 Discovery, we were were wondering if we could come along on your trip. We would like to go out with a group since most of the time its just the 2 of us. Let me know if you can squeeze us in.

Cristian

PS My brothers name, the one with the Xterra is George.

Gentlemen..   something has come up so I will not be able to make this run..gonna be a great time so enjoy!

More accurately, IMHO, a great run, which seems to be getting an awesome response by an unbelievably cool group of diverse wheelers is simply getting too big given the location, trail, event..  pulling out to reduce headcounts and avoid frustration..

Yes, we are requiring 4WD for this trail.  With a group this size, in order to keep things moving this was a necessary decision.

No worries Marc...another time.  Maybe catch up with you later in the evening.  ;)

Okay, is the Xterra 4WD?  What size tires are you guys running on your rigs?  Do you have the capability to air up/air down with compressor's?  Check out the Xcursion guidelines when you can and let me know.  Thanks!

We can add you, but I am seriously considering a cap at 35 trucks.

What are everyone's thoughts on this??

Everyone on the list right now has either spoken to me or confirmed via Private Message.  A group this size will almost guarantee an 8 hour trail time for everyone, with a stop for lunch on the trail.

Also:  timing and sunshine will determine if we head west through Burns Canyon to Big Bear, or south east throuh Burns Canyon to Pioneer Town.  Trying not to finish in the dark this year.  :)
