Installed the locker and diff cover today. Hooks up awesome in the dirt. Have lots of pics.

Images are in reverse order, ones in the end came first.

Has some quirks on road, hopefully it will break in/ I will get used to it. Most roads can't feel it much, at parking lot speeds acts up a little, need to get used to the best clutch/throttle use to keep it smooth.

You can always "Stealth" the Chrome....But then again people on this forum have painted theirs PURPLE/PINK !! LOL

Yeah I figure once it gets some dust/mud/dings in it it'll look just fine.

Looks like you are good at puzzles. Hope you got all the springs, widgets, and thingymajiggies, in there. In my professional  opinion, if you left one of those out, that could be causing the noise. But then again, I have no idea what I'm talking about.

I know I did it right, works as it's supposed to(per instructions) and didn't have any leftover parts 
Just kinda quirky on road, as everyone says about these types of lockers. I'm gonna give it a week of commuting to see if it breaks in and/or I get used to it. If it drives me crazy, may have to reconsider my plan.

From what I've read of the installation instructions,  this thing is going to make noise.  Is your rig auto or manual?

Yeah I expected noise and some quirks going into it, just never driven one to know exactly what it's like. I'm a manual.

Well unfortunately the Spartan wasn't for me. Nice traction off road but didn't care for it on road.

Really nice.    Looks like an improved DepHep.   Again mighty fine job there.   And you decided the mechanical lockers were not for you.   How did they behave?  I have a friend who is running Detroits in his rear diff and says that it jerks or lurches when making turns.  Was that what they were doing to you?

That was exactly it Terry. There is a lot of driveline slack in these auto lockers. The pulls at speed didn't bother me, and the noise didn't bother me, it was the jerking and bucking at tight lower speed turns. U turns and parking lots were sometimes almost brutal. The traction was fun off road, but for the 95+% of pavement driving I do it didn't work out.


Thanks for the compliments on the rack. Kinda took ideas from the DepHep and others from over on NewX.org. I might add a high-lift mounting system and/or aux fuel storage sometime, and get a decent CB setup mounted to it.

Thanks for the comments! Ray, not sure if I want to make another one, but I'll think about it.

Today I made the decision to fork out some money and buy myself a little suspension upgrade courtesy of Nisstec. Here's what I'm getting:

-Radflo 2.0 Extended Travel Coilovers(600lb springs)
-Nisstec SPC UCA's(Liked PRG better, but the cost and ease of adjustment made these more appealing to me)
-Bilstein 5100 2-4" lift rear shocks.

Also bought a used rear leaf pack from Nisstec with their add-a-leaves installed. Between mine with PRG AALs and these, gonna try to make a "franken pack". Did that on my Ranger pickup and it turned out great.

Hope these Radflo's are as good as they sound
