1st ever AZXC Yuma Xcursion and camping March 10-11
« on: February 04, 2012, 03:00:52 PM »
So I am putting together the 1st ever AZXC run out to Yuma and was wondering if any of you guys wanna come out and play in deserts of Yuma with some of the AZXC crew. Its looking like we are going to do it the weekend of 10-11 of March. I havent done a pre run of the area yet but I heard about trail in the Kofa area called Big Eye Wash Trail. Its a 24 mile trail point to point with quite a few old mining sites. From what I heard from people the trail isnt too hard so it should stock friendly. Once I pre run it I'll post up pics and let everyone know what its like. Oh our campsite is gonna be off the river near Martinez Lake, so it will be a short convoy to the trail. So heres a couple of google earth screenshots of the area. So anyone down to come out to AZ?

Too bad it's not a couple weeks later! I am gonna be out in that area the first of March! We have a house at Hidden Shores Village at Imperial Dam and have been wanting to do some exploring out in that area!

Maybe presidents day weekend? I think we are going out that weekend too

How tough is this trail supposed to be? I am bone stock in a 2010 SE with running boards still!

Im not too sure. Do you have a better location? I can tell ya this though. Its about 25-30 miles north of Yuma. Not sure if that helps you or not.

Thanks for posting up Jason, I am sure there will be a few joint runs between AZXC/SCCX members before CANVAZ in October.  :)

I'm sure there will be JTIII!

I'm in for sure to be on this run. Most likely just me and Lee though. And my fishin' poles!  ;D

Not a problem. Its just cool most of us are close enough where we all can do a run together.

Is this planned to be an all day/overnight trip?? If so, you're gonna have to count me out. If it's a half day out and back, then I could do it.

We're camping Sat night, but not out on the trail. So if you wanted to just run the trail you could leave really early and meetup with us Sunday morning before heading to the trail. Although we may not be up TOO early depending on the amount of adult beverages are consumed Sat night... ;D

I posted on the AZXC side to see if Jason(deadpilot) has scoped out the campsite or not. I'm not sure if it's a Martinez Lake pay site area or just a primitive camping free area. Should I put you down as a maybe for this trip?

I havent looked at the camp site yet. My plan is to go look at this weekend and maybe do a prerun of the trail. But that all depends if my X is able to be driven.
