Anza Borrego - Sat Feb 25, 2012

A few of us got together on Saturday to show some new friends of mine around Anza Borrego. It was pretty nice out there. We went to 17 Palms Oasis, 5 Palms Oasis, Pumpkin Patch, Cut-Across Wash through the area of the Badlands that looks like you're on Mars, Fault Wash, Vista del Malpaias, Short Wash and Fonts Point.

It is indeed. Now you know how he found SCCX (I met him at the photo club in San Diego that I hang out with).

How about this Saturday in Blair Valley (see Xcursions Forum for details)?  It's very different, but still desert and still beautiful - with the added bonus of some weird historical stuff as well.

That green eyeball works pretty well Mark.  By the way, when this sea serpent was first installed it was painted quite colorfully. The paint is pretty much all gone now, but there are some photos on the internet of it. It's one of the only ones that was painted, as far as I know.

Also, I saw something on another website the other day - there is a new giant scorpion sculpture out there now. I'll have to go to the Galleta Meadows website and see where it is.

Man, I gotta drive out to Galleta Meadows pretty soon. Would love to see those sculptures in person, esp. the serpent, the elephant, and that new scorpion.
