Hey everyone...I didn't mean to sound strict in my previous post.  :)

This trail can be a bit nasty, and has changed a bit over time.  Some of the ledges/obstacles are more dug out/aggressive now.  I would hate to have someone come out and gouge/dent/damage their vehicle or have a serious mechanical on a first time Xcursion.

It looks like a big response for this run, another reason to make sure all of the trucks are trail appropriate to keep the bigger group moving.

Please feel free to Private Message Nick, NPGTech, the Trail Leader with any questions about capability/adaptability.  ;D

After some of the carnage we witnessed this past week at GONE, we are just trying to be realistic with what to expect.  This trail can get crazy (you make the trail as hard as you want), but I am definitely firm on the skids and 33" tires.  This is one of the most rocky, both small to large, no real boulders to climb over, trails in Big Bear.

I ran this trail with Marc (ArchX), Matt (hardrock), someone with a Jeep Cherokee, last year.  The only real issues then was the fairly stock Jeep getting stuck literally between two rocks front/rear bumper.  With a little high lifting we got him out.

Also, Shi819, our son and I are going to turn this into a camping trip.  Looks like we are going to go up Friday night, then come back Sunday night. I'll be looking at places to camp tonight (after I'm done with my X's revitalization).  If there are enough people interested we could look at the group campsites that are available in the Big Bear area.

Also, throughout the Big Bear area, if you decide you want to stop and "recreate" or stop along a trail pretty much anywhere throughout the forest area, you will need an adventure pass.  These can be purchased at many places in Big Bear, and I believe they are good for any other national forest areas here in SoCal, they are $30 for the year, and $5 for any other vehicles you may own.

Again any question, please feel free to contact myself or John *GhostX*.

Great new updated plans Nick!  I'd love to go but don't think the X will be back by then.

If you have time on the trail you might want to check this out.

Ok, why don't we make this into two runs?? One for the decked out, experienced rigs, and one for the less experienced rigs.

Depending on the amount of rigs, sure we can do that.  There are a few spots that can get a bit crazy.  Hopefully Marc or Matt can chime in, with their opinions on this trail in particular.

I'm in for the split trip.  I've done a few of the medium trails around Holcomb but not this area.  I have the wheels and the lift but not the skids so i am a little nervous about doing the hardcore rocks.
Be careful when you follow the masses..... sometimes the "M" is silent.

It is not a function of experience, it has to do with the trail capability of each Xterra for this specific run.

Gold Mountain is a challenging trail, and bringing a truck out without the minimum requirements will certainly result in some damage, either cosmetic or mechanical.

It would be a bummer to have to tow someone off the trail or leave some paint on the rocks...just sayin'.

Ok, well if you think it can be done without skid plates, I'm in.
