Fundamentals - Off Roading 101
« on: June 28, 2012, 06:40:08 PM »
Came across this light bit of reading while I was killing time at work. I do that a lot  ::)

For you experienced guys, it might be a bit boring. But for Newbs, like me, it was nice read.

Great read Hevak. They should make that a stamp in the forum. I think everyone, even the pro's will like this. Even as a refresher..JMO

Didn't read it all yet but will.  I liked the yellow X with the ground clearance info....which made me think the article was lacking a "roof clearance" section for people like Oz.  :o

Just when I thought I had seen every Xterra related site, along comes something new. Nice find.

Sooo there seems to be a ton of "I'm new here" threads but I'd like to avoid starting another one. Since this "Fundamentals - New Members Check In Here" thread  is pinned to the top. I'll check in here.

My name is Tom, I'm a ham we6dgr, and I am Bro-J Ron's little brother.

I've had my Xterra since I moved to the mountains 8 years ago and I've lurked on the site a bit, but I work most weekends so I've never gotten involved. Ron and the other guys from ACORA got me more into wheelin' but I don't have the prettiest rig by any means. Ron had a great time with you guys and told me that I should jump on the forum.

This year my wife and I decided we are going to keep my car instead of buying new, and turn it into a quality rig. (That's the first step right?)

I look forward to meeting you all some time.

I'm pretty sure I'll be the one wrenching on it to make it a quality rig... I suggest we start with the front dana44. Once Tom gathers the parts I'll build it.

Do you want to be my brother too?  Sounds like you are going to build a nice rig!
