Cleghorn : stock X = body damage

Ugggghhhhh....

Should have listened to FrankB and removed the hitch electrical connector...Frank, you were right, that is a bad place for the connector.
And everyone always saying "Get sliders"...why didn't I listen again?

Damage: rocker panel dent, broken electrical connector, rear bumper plastic dent

White Knuckles on order, waiting for AOE4x4 to confirm skids install...now I need to get CB and be ready for CANVAZ.

Sounds like I'm making progress convincing the treasurer better suspension is needed.  But need concrete plans and part names to get funds  released, so at CANVAZ I need to pick some brains and get ideas!

just call Greg at PRG and give him your credit card and call it good for suspension. you'll be happy you did :D oh but you will be missing around 2000$, its always easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

i learned real quick that when everyone says you need a 2" body lift on a first gen to fit 33" tires, you need a BL.  i cut the crap out of my brand new KM2 with my fenders on cleghorn before i finally admitted i needed a BL.

Hennie...run Rattlesnake Canyon with us on Saturday at CANVAZ and we can help you get squared away with mod choices.

Sorry to hear about the electrical connector Hennie.  Looking back on it, I'm surprised mine stayed intact as long as it did.  I said the same thing (just with a different name for the person who suggested it to me) when mine got smashed.

Watched all your videos from that day - pretty cool - but could have used English sub-titles.

By the way, I can recommend the PRG lift.  Also, a set of BFG All Terrains, even in stock size like I have, would make a huge difference too.

I think the worst part about the hitch connector is to fix it you have to buy the whole kit, Nissan doesn't sell it separate.  My friend had the same issue on his frontier.

Hennie,  I converted my hitch receptical on my Frontier from OEM to an aftermarket and mounted it into a 1 1/2 hole in my bumper.  I still have the OEM parts.  If there're the same as on the XTerra, you can have mine...  Send me a PM if you're interested.

Hey Henni
I got my first 'Ding' at Cleghorn making the same wrong turn.  I went back and broke my tow elect. a month later.  A $10 autozone trailer plug in the bumper is how I fixed it.  Steve (USKO) may still have his old White Knuckle sliders for sale. PM him and see.
Hope to see you in Big Bear.

Thanks guys for all the advice and pointers!

... a 2" body lift on a first gen to fit 33" tires..

Thanks, I'm hoping to keep the cg low, planning 4" SL only, and with gen2 looks like the melt mod will be good?

..but could have used English sub-titles...

I'm a PC, no free video editing tools like the MAC...but I'll find something.

Loosely translated though, Ilda was saying:"Dumbass, what were you thinking?"

I can recommend the PRG lift.  Also, a set of BFG All Terrains, even in stock size like I have, would make a huge difference too.

Thanks, looking into that lift. Hoping to follow John's example and use titan front suspention with stock R180 and locker. My tires have only 11k on, feels like I need to get more out of them before replacing.

I still have the OEM parts.  If there're the same as on the XTerra...

Thanks Mark! PM send....

plug in the bumper is how I fixed it

My White Knuckles are in the system, hopefully arrive this week so that I can install next weekend :)
I need to see your plug solution, I'd like to mount the connector also in the bumper until I get the MaxTerra, those look beefy!

Hennie...I just watched both videos again.  Some serious three wheeling going on there!

You should definitely look into attending goneMOAB next May with us...going out and attempting this trail on your own is impressive.

Thats a pretty nasty looking trail!

Here is what I did with my trailer plug. I think I used a 1-1/2"(ish) hole saw for the plug, and 2 small holes for the bolts. Pretty easy to do.

Here is the way I did it with the aftermarket plug, since I broke the stock one.  I removed one plate light and enlarged the hole to fit. ( I wanted it close to center.)  I swaped the wires one for one according to the wiring diagram.  Cheap and easy.

This is not going to be easy. The only way to get 4" out of suspension only is to swap in a Titan front end. The most you can get out of your current front end is about 2.5". Most guys run this very successfully. Some armor, a good set of 33's and a little skill will take you very far.

lol, I have little skill, no really...very little, and didn't get me as far as I hoped ;)

So then I need to beef up my ride!  One of the reasons I wanted to help Titanize (thanks Oz for the new term) the Ghost was to experience the transformation first hand.  I'll bring a parts list and my understanding of what's needed to get 'er done to CANVAZ and run by all you guys for advice.

What about the 5" Calmini: http://www.purenissan.com/5_suspension.htm
Would this be comparable to TS?

Thanks for the heads up
