So why the replacement?  Something wrong with the original?

Yep...I think I blew out the drivers side seal/mechanicals on the way back from Big Bear with my blown CV/floppy half axle.

Ugh.  you got seals and that for the new one?

Side note:  Did you buy all your wire for your lights locally?  Didn't you say you had 2 gauge wire.   Actually I'm going to need some 0 gauge wire and am wondering if I can find it locally.

Custom breather tube...thanks Jordan. :)

Seals good on the new diff Terry, but the old one is shot. I think it has more internal damage but I'm just not sure.

I have some extra 4 gauge if you need it. Let me know.

0 gauge...wow, you powering a small town? ;)

Terry, try stereo install places, they normally have a limited selection of bulk wire.

Bingo thanks Jordan.  I am thinking of possibly pulling 150-200 Amps about 10 feet.   With that John's graph says 4 gauge would be over kill.  Guess I certainly don't need 0.

Just be careful of cheap wire, most budget wire is undersized with extra insulation to make it look comparable higher quality wire.  You can also try boating places if you've got any, like west marine.

Terry-for my main power line from the battery to the fuse block, I utilized 4 ga with a 60 amp inline fuse.

Picked it up on amazon.

Oversized wire is never a bad idea, a bit of extra insurance actually.  Most local stereo shops have the budget wire so assume oversize.  Pep Boys has a nice amp install kit with generous lenghts of premium 2/0 cable for both pos (+) and neg (-) as well as a nice MAXI fuse block and distribution block included..

I used these when I ran power and air hose through the truck.

I still have a few laying around if you need one.

You can also try your luck at a do-it-yourself junkyard like Pick-A-Part and get everything for @ $25.  Everything.  I found what used to be a nice Honda Accord with a busted trunk latch.  I was able to open the trunk after lots of prying and found that the trunk had not been raided like the rest of the car.  It had, at one point in time, several speaker amps in the back that were long gone.  However, they left behind a very nice assortment of 2 & 4awg wire reaching towards where the battery sits, dist. blocks, several fuse blocks, and other misc stuff.  Price?  $25 for everything
