Terry is correct, your good as long as you stay on the road supposedly.  Those are targets for the helos to do strafing runs.  Beware of the large triangles, those are bombing run targets.  My roommate and I found an m10 tank destroyer from ww2 used for target practice out there

Thanks Jordan...there we a few bullet holes in it, but from the hardware I have seen on the Military Channel, that target should have been obliterated.

We stayed "on the road" and motored out of there.  I was surprised that there weren't fences/gates?  I guess the govt. figures anyone foolish enough to wander beyond said signs should suffer the risk/reward? ;)

The hill to the south of us looked like it had an observation post, as well as lots of high tech communications gear.  We thought Homeland Security/Border Patrol, but after seeing the signs for the bombing range...maybe spotters/comms for pilots?

Nonetheless, a really cool area of the desert.

Just curious, what do you guys think about a "Where have you taken your rig lately" thread, similar to this one, instead of "done" more of a focus on "where?"  Kinda a quick post area for trip photos...rather than starting a whole new thread?

Thoughts?

Well when they are actively using the area they block access, once we stumbled upon an f150 with a few British SAS guys hanging out around the hills and the alerted us that they were doing strafing runs with a helo.  we stayed a while and watched the show, the helo would land right next to the f150 and they would reload the turret with ammo.  the back of the f150 was packed with ammo crates.  It was an awesome day despite not getting to off road in our favorite area.
