Picked up a couple of new gas cans and fabricated a bracket for them to go up on the roof rack (thanks to Celt for the suggestion on the gas cans!)

The bracket is made from 1/4" thick 2"x2" aluminum angle and 1/4" x 1.5" aluminum flat stock. . I cut the pieces up and originally planned to bolt it all together, but decided to have a buddy of mine who is a welder take care of it instead.

There are two tabs on the side that have holes for the 3/8" threaded rods that clamp the cans down using a top metal piece. I finished it in black paint and bolted it to the roof.

Very happy with how this came out and will no longer have to tie those lousy plastic cans down to the roof on long trips through the desert.

well this happened this weekend... i got alot of comments, "wow its so big!!" im pretty proud :)

thanks to SteveC for picking it up from a Craigslist's stranger in Santa Ana before he came down to do his 60k maint.

now i can start my desert ice cream man business :D

They're 5 gal each, they're just short and chubby compared to the normal tall and narrow jerry cans. Short and chubby with big cans.... sounds like I need at least a 6 pack first.  ;D
