Just a couple pennies, don't store your shackles on the recovery points.  The screw pin should be loose in the shackle so that it can be removed by hand when needed, but they will disappear(fall off) due to vibration or thieves will take them.  Best place is to keep them with your recovery strap, the wetbox is a handy place. :D

If you put a small zip tie on them you can leave them in place and the pin will not be able to back itself out. Cut them off when you need them and it's one less thing you have to worry about, especially when you are up to your knees in mud and rain.

Yea, you just have to find a knife to cut the ziptie while your up to your knees in mud and rain.    Still better to keep them with your recovery gear.

FINALLY put my awning on the X, via DepHep brackets. Got the attached room for Christmas, need to find a good excuse to go use it all.

Looks great! I didn't know about those dephep brackets.... seems like a nice easy solution. I love my awning, and I've been thinking about getting the room for it also. How quickly does the room set up?

The room is pretty simple to setup, it has some sail track to attach to the vehicle side and a zipper to attach to a piece that installs in the sail track on the leg side.  the other 2 sides just clip onto the horizontal bars.  The full room has its own ceiling and floor so no worries about bugs getting in between the room walls and the awning.

I had one for a bit, never set it up until I sold it lol

My project list is really long for the X (and just as long for my son's Jake's) and not getting shorter.  For each one I scratch off, I add two.  This weekend I replaced the windshield sprayer pump and finally fixed the stupid spring clip on my fuel door.  I hope it stays working, kind of a crappy design.  Trust me you really want a washer pump when you splash through mud puddles on dirt roads, good thing I had new wipers at least.  The last thing I did was create a rolling rack/holder for my new roof top tent using some wire shelving I had.  I don't expect to leave it on the truck so I can park in the garage, etc and to keep it out of the weather.  Don't want moss growing on it living here in the rain forest.

Next weekend is a double timing chain replacement with Jake's and my friends Tony's.

Ohh, I did my timing chain before. Let's just say it took more than a weekend, but that was mostly down to me (having not done it before and being very cautious). And then there are the chain tensioners, whether those are entirely replaced, or just the phenolic (?) wear blocks. Full replacement added a lot of time, for me.

Anyway, good luck!

I did mine a few months ago and it took me something like 18 hours.  I expect this time to go much faster.

I had a busy weekend... I mounted and installed my ARB compressor behind my grill (it needed a new home ever since I changed out bumpers), installed a 20" LED bar, blacked out my grill, installed a ram mount for my tablet, changed my front brake pads, and adjusted my e-brake. I went with Duralast Max brake pads from Auto Zone. Normally I stay away from their pads because they're crap, but someone recommended these and so far I'm pretty impressed. They stop noticeably better than the OEM pads I replaced (still running OEM rotors). I'll get some photos of my newly remodeled front-end and the compressor mounting job up on my build thread tomorrow.

I got one of these too and used it up in Death Valley earlier this year.
