Here's a list of testing locations in San Diego.  I took mine at the North Park location a few years ago.

Out at March Air Reserve Base (Riverside) at the American Forces Radio and Television Service Broadcast Center they do testing.

Check out the schedule at www.k6afn.net as we test normally on the first Wednesday of the month but it does change from time-to-time.

One cool way to take your test is with OAUSA, they actually do testing sessions at camp during events!
It's pretty cool. Get some wheeling / camping / ham radio in all at the same time.
I also do Field Day with these guys every june, I highly recommend you guys going next year.

The last time I checked their site, I didn't see any upcoming events.  Am I looking in the right spot?

Probably not, they just had their borregofest last weekend. and they go on trips all the time.
I believe there have been trips up into the sierras twice in the last month in addition to summer fest.

you just need to check the boards but they usually post their 'fests' on the home page
