Well tell the admin. I am not given any suggestions......

I found it no problem.  ;D

I was just under my X and noticed that the boot on the driver's side CV is torn.  One more thing.  Good thing I have one.
I'd rather be happy than right any day.

Don't worry about it Chris.  We will get yours done.  I have done the CV on my own before so I'm not worried about it, I can do it on Sunday if need be.

Mine's been torn for more than a year.  It's nice and shiny in there too.

Fred, did that kit come with the metal tube parts that go in the bushings?  Or was it just the bushings.

SLR's kits came with pieces of DOM stock that went in there.

Negative. Just the bushings...

I was concerned about that, especially how it was stated in the website when I ordered them from Bruce (suspensionrestoration.com). He did mention that perhaps the stock one would work? I dunno... is that possible?

Can you please advise?

BTW, do you have a diff drop kit? If so, what kind? Any other issues we should be aware of?

Thanks!
Fred

I don't have one.  Meant to, but never got around to it.

Short of taking measurements off a kit that's not in use to make the pieces on your own, I'm not sure what to tell you.  You will need those pieces.  They don't have to be DOM, but they do have to be there.

Bobby,

So the stock metal ones are no good?

So you mean you've been running your current set-up with no issues or no need for a diff drop?

I just thought it would be a good precautionary measure before I upgrade my UCA's.

I have no idea if what's in there from the factory can be made to work or not. I've never torn that stuff apart, but I seem to remember the factory setup being some not-round pieces that are molded into the rubber.  Have to look under there to be sure.

I've not had any problems so far.  But I will tell you this.  One time on my way back from Colorado, I had it in 4wd on the highway because the ice was so bad.  When the speeds picked up a bit, closer to 40, I got some bad vibration and it literally grumbled and popped itself out of 4wd while I was driving.

Perhaps that could've been avoided with things being lower.  But honestly, I'm not racing and I tend to drive off road on the more conservative side, meaning not attacking the skinny pedal so much.  That's helped keep the breakage to a minimum.

We will see what can be done on Saturday.  We may be able to do something with Chris' gasoline and Spenser's propane torch. ;D
