Start thread jack
Bet you've seen this already, but here's some Truckhaven action :
A friend gave me the TDS 2012 trail GPS file (official site here http://www.tds4x4.com/), let me know if you want it :)
Just recently found out there is an old aircraft graveyard, switch on the Photos on the google map to see them:

I didn't see that John.  The run schedule says "Cancelled 11/11/2012 Truckhaven Day Run - CANCELLED "  Is that the one you were talking about.    Hey how much to you know about the Truckhaven Area.   I remember I tried to find it once and got horribly  :P lost.

Yep...you're right.  I forgot that Roger had cancelled it...he had issues with his rear axle on his Jeep.

Next time.  I want to hit up a JustRuns trail sometime and see how they run things over there.

I've stumbled upon the aircraft graveyard on my first all night adventure out there in my new xterra.  Pretty awesome but I was too tired to stop.  We left my house at 8 pm and didn't get home til 7am, then my roommate went straight to work.

When I ran with them they are pretty loose.   The times I went you show up at a time they designate.  If the trail leader feels your equipped (both driver and truck) for the run they are about to do, then you get to go.   If not, "maybe another time".  The first time I ran with them I literally had to talk my way onto the run.

BTW  If you have something other than Just Runs to do Sunday let me know.   I'm just at a point I NEED to do something this weekend...   The dirt has worn of from the last outing  ;D

I just got home from a trip the Anza/Ocotillo for an event.  One of the main reasons I wanted to go was to see the Airplane Graveyard and we did find it.  We couldn't see too much from the outside and the entrance is very straight forward......visitors are NOT welcome.

Someone in my group was saying it used to be a Military base but has since been sold to a private operation.  Not sure what the truth is but it was pretty cool to drive around and check out.

This isn't Santa's Workshop.  This place smells like mushrooms and everyone looks like they want to hurt me.

Thanks for the recon!  Too bad one cannot get close, but maybe still worth a visit.

You can get pretty close.  There is a combo of barbed wire fence, water tanks, large falling apart crates, huge storage containers, plywood and a bunch of other stuff around the perimeter.  Most of the "wall" is pretty tall preventing us from looking over the top but if you stood on your roof you'd probably get a decent view.  Not sure how that will go over with anyone on the other side of the wall though.  Some areas allowed for easier viewing so a trip around the place to find the sweet spot would be in order.

As for it being worth the visit....sure why not it still fun to explore.  Plus there is a geocache there so that's reason enough to go there.
