Hello John, I'm on annual leave until January 9th.  Just got back from a very interesting, fun 4x4 weekend in Death Valley (I'm in a club too!).

Attached please find a blank copy of the road maintenance plan.

I now have the trail maintenance plans in hand, which are essentially designating which club members will be participating as well as the assigned work with completion dates.

This should all kick off in the New Year, so future updates should take place the second week of January, 2013.

Alright trail maintenance peeps...I sent an email this morning to Ranger Greg Hoffman following up with some questions about our involvement in the Adopt A Trail program and maintenance plan for trail 2N02.

As soon as Greg gets back to me with the specifics and a list of dates, I will post up here and update the OP.

We do need to set a date to drive the road together.  During this time, I will show you the Big Bear Ranger Station, equipment shed, green house, lock combinations, trailers and all resources that will be made available to your club.  Once were done there, we'll be off to write a road maintenance plan for 2N02.  We will capture all road features, signs and unauthorized activity.  Discuss methods to mitigate challenges we'll face together.  Also, schedule any equipment needs (chainsaws, heavy equipment or ??) and supplies needed to get the road maintenance plan completed.  
 
So John, the next step is to set a date and hit the trail.

Hey John.  Is this the first kickoff event for the adopt-a-trail crew?  Or is this a meeting that Greg has scheduled with you where a few others will be invited to come along?  It seems that this would be a good informational tour for the volunteers so that we would be familiar with the procedures.  

Is the 2/13 meeting in Corona just a social get together of all the adopt-a-trail clubs or is that something we need to attend as well if we are a volunteer.  I am available on any of the Saturdays but not on Wednesday.  Sorry for all the questions.

Okay, I heard back from Ted Kalil, Adopt A Trail Program Coordinator this morning.

... Then Greg or I will accompany your group on that trail to do a Trail Maintenance Plan. This shows in detail exactly what work is needed and by agreement when that work is to be completed. Some of the work may well be done on that run.

It looks like this IS the big kickoff for our Adopt-A-Trail.  I hope we can make a big showing this first time out so that they know SCCX is dedicated to this project.  We probably won't get a second chance for this introductory tour that will highlight all the ins and outs of what goes into maintaining 2N02.  Although it is nice to "drive and dig," it would be beneficial to know the whys and whatfors as well.  This message is slowly going downhill with the "ins and outs" and "whys and whatfors."    But nonetheless, I am really excited to get to participate in the launch of SCCX's Adopt-A-Trail and look forward to seeing all you out there!

The Feb. 13th is the first meeting for AAT for 2013.  My understanding is that this meeting is to set the AAT Agenda for 2013.

NOT NECESSARY for club members to attend this, although I won't discourage it.  I will be there for sure information gathering and networking with the off road community.
