Anza Borrego Sandstone Canyon
« on: January 03, 2013, 08:57:54 PM »
Hey guys, recently took the Subaru for the first dirt test today out at Sandstone Canyon. it handled grate (first time driving a subaru off road) . I was pleasantly surprised on how it did on the trail. Of course the ground clearance is not an X, but for what it is and gets MPG , i was impressed. Did the Wind Cave hike as well for the first time very neat. Anyway here is a few photos. Very cool Ryan.  Nice looking car, and great pictures.

How far back in Sandstone Canyon were you able to go?  The first rockfall is the one about 1.5 miles or so into the canyon, it's the one with the sharp bypass carved out on the left side of the canyon.  It had a pretty sharp hump in the middle of it (read: might need some clearance to get over it).  Was that big rock still in the middle, almost but not blocking, about where you got pictures in the narrow spot?

Frank, thanks i took the old lady out to julian the night before for some pie we stayed at the Julian gold rush hotel . Ya I turned around about 1.5 mile in the rock that fell in the center was to big to squeeze around.

. . .  thanks i took the old lady out to julian . . . .

Unless that's her daughter sitting in the front seat in that last picture, she doesn't look all that old to me.  ;D
