Maybe just take situation day by day?  Circumstances may change by end of week? Wishful thinking on my part. This " situation" the part in riverside...occurred just a couple of cross streets from where we live. Probably be safer to stay together as a group....than for individuals to go off individually? And, one has to wonder if the center of the situation is even still up there...

I agree, I am 99% certain he's nowhere near Big Bear, but I sure as hell don't wanna find out I'm/we're wrong...

I'm not going to try to convince anyone to risk their safety if they feel at all uncomfortable attending.

Hopefully the coming week will bring more developments and a resolution to the fugitive situation.

If something comes up before the run that is an extreme safety concern, we will postpone and reschedule.  Watch this thread for updates, as well as your local news outlet.

I emailed Greg Hoffman (area ranger) about the day, and here is the email exchange:

All day. Some work.  Gloves.   They need cb radios or Hams.  Food and water.  Plenty to plan.  Thank you.

It looks like we will actually be conducting some maintenance on the trail!

Please bring a comfortable but sturdy pair of shoes/boots, wear jeans, and layer accordingly with current weather reports.  Bring a jacket and cap for sure, as well as usual preparations for a day on the trail.

Plenty of food and water, and a functioning CB or Ham radio will be necessary.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Also, side note for this run.

PLEASE BE ON TIME FOR THIS XCURSION/MEET TIME.

This will be the first impression with USFS Ranger Greg Hoffman, and I would encourage everyone to be at least 15 to 30 minutes early for the meet time of 9:00am.

Please leave plenty of time for the planning/mapping of this run.  Take some time to confirm routes, drive time, traffic, weather, packing, gas fill ups, etc.

I will actually be staying in the area Friday night and driving over from Lake Arrowhead.  I will be at the meet spot by 8:30.

PM me if you would like my cell phone number (if you don't have it already) so we can communicate via phone/text that evening or morning.

I will not be able to attend this, My wifes work has changed saturday to a work day.

They are trying to get two reels out on the film they are working on.  Cannot do the whole day with a toddler and clean.

Sorry guys hope to do one soon.

I've been staying off the trails since we found out this guy was up here.  I've been on the scout for game trails, so I've spent the better part of the last couple of weekends on the trails before all this ish started.  I've had to race up the mountain twice to get my kids out of school cause of this brown O-ring.  (brown has nothing to do with his skin color, no pun intended).

Folks...first of all, a big THANK YOU to everyone that has volunteered their time for this event.  If you don't see your name on the list, it means I haven't received a Private Message confirming your attendance.  No big deal, just let me know by Saturday and you will be added, or late arrivals just show up at the meet spot/meet time.

I look forward to seeing everyone and learning about this Adopt A Trail program together.

Pretty cool, our Club is listed on the Adopt A Trail website already for supporting Trail 2N02...check it out when you have time.
