Full Suspension Install... Maybe another Mod day (TBD)
« on: January 19, 2013, 06:36:45 PM »
I am going to start soliciting the help now so we can see who will be showing up and who can help.  Last time my stuff showed up too late so we didnt get to work on my truck.

I am looking to do this within the next 30 days.  Justin (Lava) offered up his place if he is free one weekend, but we dont have to use his. Just trying to see if there is interest. Sometime soon.

Currently I need to do the following:

Remove back leafs
 - Install Full Dakar Set (Have shims, new ubolts)
Replace Back Shocks
Replace UCA
Replace Coilovers - With extended length TJM. (Pre completed just need to be swapped out)

Lets see who wants to come hang out and we can try to set a date as more people answer up.  If you have something you need done lets try to get that completed to.

I'm willing to help out as long as I am available. I also have a single AAL that I want to install. Although, depending on what parts I can sell, the single AAL might end up being a full deaver 10 leaf pack and piggy back shocks or emulsions.

Ok, so Justin is busy for the next month and half and wont be able to support a full day in his place.

So full edit down here!  Have placed the date for 9th of Feb Sat.  The weekend after the super bowl.  I will be doing this at my place which is down by Kearney Mesa High school.

San Diego ORW is up the street so if im missing anything minor i should be able to grab it up there.

Ill be sure to stock up on some beers and get the wife to bake some fat goodies for anyone who shows up.  You dont even need to turn a wrench just point and grunt so I know that im doing is right.

Already will have me and my brother there.

I might be able to swing by for a bit, but I won't know for sure until a bit closer. Wouldn't mind lending a hand, and I am great at drinking beer and pointing and grunting :D

Yeah so far there is about 4 people coming that are positive and about 3 who are maybe.  So we got a good little group together.  I will have to put the bikes in front of the house and park my wifes car on the street so there is plenty of room.  Others are welcome to do some tuning here too.  I have a flat area in front of my garage that will fit two other rigs, and then two behind it on not perfectly flat area before i hit the street.  Which is not a busy street at all  I can get like 4 more rigs out there before we are not parking directly in front of my house.

I should be able to make it no problem.  I can bring some jack stands and any tools you think you might need (assuming I have them) like a 1/2 drive socket set, torque wrench, and long breaker bar)

I have never done these parts before I am pretty handy just figuring stuff out so im sure worst case, we can get something done.

Well i completely agree anything suspension on my bike i make sure a shop does it so its to spec.  Its super dangerous to mess with a bike out of spec because thats your life in your hands.

You should at least have ballpark figures for torque specs on suspension components.  Torque wrenches are fairly cheap insurance, around $80 for a nice adjustable one, and you can also just grab one at HF if price is a major concern.

Here is a good list put together by MUZIKMAN, former owner of TNX:

These numbers were pulled manually from the 2005 Nissan Xterra Service Manual (revision Feb. 2006). There could be errors in translation, typos, mis-reading of the manual, brain farts, etc. Please double checked these torque specs with Nissan. I take no responsibility if you use these specs and something falls off.

I will add to this over time. If there is anything I am missing or someone sees that is wrong, please let me know and 'll add it.
