Where is everyone buying tires?
« on: July 11, 2013, 10:52:00 PM »
Tires and a lift are in my future.  I've got the suspension lift figured out, but the tires.

I'm in north Orange County.  Does anyone have a good line on some 33' BFG all terrains?

Sorry, I need HELP!

I like Discounttiredirect.com for tire/wheel combos.  A pallet shows up to your house with tires mounted and balanced ready to go on the truck.  For just tires I like discount tire, and they match anyone's price and will honor the replacement warranty for offroad damage :-)

My dad has been going to goldenwest tires in Fullerton for the longest time and he pretty much swears by them. They're right off Euclid, really close to the 91fwy.

Anaheim Wheel and Tire on Orangethorpe across from Fry's.  Some of the best prices around.

I've bought at the local America's Tires and get their insurance.

It's about $24 a tire and I've had them replace three tires.

America's Tire (aka Discount Tire).  I just put a full set of the Cooper Discoverer ATP on, my second set, and I've been happy.  140/tire and the manager gave me one free.

You guys are rad!  Thanks for all of the responses

I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a magic tire shop that everyone on the forum goes to.

Any other recommendations besides the BFGs would be greatly appreciated!  85% on-road / 15% (if I'm lucky) off-road

Thanks again.

I've been pretty happy with the Nitto Terragrappler. Good traction and no highway howl.

The dodge guys that go offroading with these are getting really good life on theirs. Plus BJ Baldwin run them too :)

Tire shopping is mostly about service, overhead on tires is really low so you have to mostly look at how much they charge for mounting and whatnot.

What Tim said...Nitto's...but you should also check out the Falken's sold by Discount Tire.

They have excellent road manners (with your 85% of the road time, this should be a priority), are competitively priced (around $180 per), and I saw them everywhere when I was in Moab (which is an excellent off road proving ground)

Good luck, you have a lot of very capable choices here in this thread.

I love the GoodYear Wrangler DuraTracs.    Had them for 2 YEARS now and I'm only down to 50% thread left.  I've done 80% highway and20% offroad including construction sites on a regular basis.  Great traction, wear, and quiet.  Paid $660 m/b/inst/taxes for 31's, not a cent more at Fairmount tires in downtown Los Angeles.

Either Discount Tire/Discount Tire Direct (same company). DT can get the tires listed on DTD if you want, it'll be $25 extra but if they have them on the DTD site and not carried at local DT stores its worth it. Especially with their customer service and free balance/rotations.
