Does that radio have aprs built in or do you have a tnc hooked up?

Toro, you can upgrade your radio to the 710 model by buying just the remote head.  Its cool to text message over  ham.  :)

Do you have the 710 interfaced with a GPS unit at all?

Holy crap. That faceplate is $300! Plus ill need the GPS module.
I just like the idea of my wife knowing where im at...but for $300....she'll just have to come looking for me when I dont come home.

........ill probably end up getting it.....

Does Rugged Rocks plan on getting into the HAM business?

I was actually in the Ham business about 5 years ago but got out. It was too hard to stay competitive.

But ill be setting up aprs with a lowrance which will TX your location as well as map everyone else's right on the GPS. Great for tracking other people on a run.

Yea its probably cheaper to find a used 710 and sell your v71.  And then you need the GPS, hro sells a GPS that fits onto the back of the 710 head.

Hmmmm....tempted on the 710.

Went to your APRS link Jordan, have to admit, on the surface this looks pretty cool.

Besides, if Toro has it, I'll need to keep up with the joneses.  ;) ;D ;D

So my radio now sells for about $370. The 710 faceplate is $300.....= $670

A brand new 710 is $550.
I can probably get $300 for my unit needing another $250 for the the new 710.

$300 for the new faceplate or $250 and having to go through all that.

Daaaaaamn you Steeevo!!!

Or... you can get a lowrance hds5 and put the byonics tinytrak between it and your current radio.

In the end your spending more but if you were considering a lowrance anyways it'll only cost you another $60 to implement aprs with the tinytrak.
