New rear protection
« on: February 05, 2014, 11:36:04 AM »
So with my boredom and my hatred of the stock plastic rear lower things I'm design a new metal one. I have it mocked up in cardboard. I haven't decided what thickness of steel to use yet but here's rough idea of what I plan on doing.

That is cool.    Something I've wished I could do forever...   Keep us posted on your progress.

I wouldn't want the pressurized but that may make a good area for some storage. I was thinking  maybe put some rock lights, a power source and maybe an air source for oba. Either way I think this will be a improvement on that stock plastic pos.

Thanks offer but I have my welder which makes life so much easier and some stuff to bend it too. Do you know the place? Cause I use Cal mesa steel down there.

So this is what I've got done so far. It's bit of mess since I'm cutting things out by hand with oxy torch and fitting as I go. It's made out of 3/16 plate

Prototypes are always ugly and never fit perfect.  Thats why they are prototypes.  Just remember to make clean duplicates for future templates BEFORE you start welding, tacks are ok.

Yea that's gonna happen for sure. And I'm writing down all the angles for each piece on the template so I will remember.
