Thanks bud.

Things were a little "over active" for me for a while...so I promise to pace myself. Just happy to help you all when I can.

A good group we are all.

Sorry Justin,
John, Jordan and I were on the road at 7am.  I didn't think that you had Tuesdays off :P  Sorry for the confusion.
There's still plenty to do and we definitley need your rig and trailer to do it.  Weekdays are still best cuz we never saw a soul on the trail on Tuesday ;)

Well...8am's more accurate. Then horrendous traffic...so we got to Big Bear/2N02 in about 3 1/2 hours. Off the trail and home by 10pm, long but productive day. Learned a lot about recovery and tensile strength of synthetic winch lines. ;)

Thanks again Randy and Jordan. Pics to follow.

So what did you learn of the tensile strength of synth line?   You didn't break one did you?

That one picture looked like you got it within a few feet of the road.  True?

Sounds like weekday was great timing for getting what appears to be the heavy lifting done.   So what would a time estmate of road blockage be to get it up on the road and load it or drag it to someplace where we could load it without blocking the road any further.

Were there three people on-site?  If so, I calculate 45 AAT hours for you guys right?

We learned that if you scrape it against a rock while recovering, it will eventually break late in the day.

Yes, we got it to within 2 feet of the road, and would have moved it more if Duffer's winch line hadn't snapped.

The weekday recovery was perfect...we didn't encounter one vehicle all day...from noon until 7:30 pm.  Zero traffic.

Yes, three people, and 45 hours with drive/work time included.

Thanks Terry.

Okay, here's a few photos of yesterdays AAT Xcursion.

Approach shot...look closely and you can see the Oldsmobile in the center of this picture...gives you an idea of how far down the slope it crashed.  Always wonder when the original crash took place, and what happened to the driver/passengers...unfortunately probably never know.

Arrival and assessment.  The original plan was to simply cut parts off to lighten the load, and make a second trip to winch the carcass up the hill.  Things progressed however.

About 50-60 feet down the slope, a lot closer than we originally thought

As the car sat, before we started cutting

Based upon my Google research, and identifying the grille, bumpers, and tail lights, I guesstimated this car to be a 1963 Oldsmobile Super 88 sedan.

Thought for the day...we were recovering a relic almost as old as myself, but still younger than Duffman...here's what it possibly looked before its fateful trip down Burns Canyon Rd./2N02
